I think that's true. Centrifugal vs. roots has some important differences; especially with fit. But you're going to get very similar performance out of each one of that particular type. Performance wise, it generally boils down to tuning.

Remember the BMW V12 turbo FFR cobra? The owner knew from the start that it wasn't the best performance option, but was it a cool car or what?

There's something to be said about the Shelby Super Snake setup, though tracking down the dual quad sidewinder intake manifold could be a challenge:

VERY large twin screw supercharger - my guess would be that it's for a marine diesel.
