Default New BDR RT4

I'm new to the forum.

I final just purchased a Cobra replica. I've been looking to buy one for the last 10 years and finally pulled the trigger. I've look at all and decided on the BDR RT4. I saw them close up at the Barrett Jackson Show in Scottsdale, AZ in January 2020. I met Frank Dobb and spent time discussing the car. I didn't buy the car then. I did more research and bought the car last week. It's en-route and waiting for delivery. Looking forward to seeing the car.

Congrats! I’m in the process of paying off mine & my wife’s cars so I can invest in some Cobra Therapy

Be sure to post some pics when you get it. What are the engine specs?

Congrats Gus! I'm in similar shoes as you. Would you mind sharing what pushed you to make the purchase from BDR as opposed to other manufacturers (ie FFR, SuperF). Thanks!

Congrats Gus! I am new to the forum myself, like you have been dreaming of my first cobra, and hopefully will be pulling the trigger soon. Still doing research myself, but I'm going the build route. Have done a good bit of research so far, and am leaning towards the ERA kit. Thoughts anyone?
Post pics Gus! That Backdraft RT4 is a sweet ride!!
Thanks,
Hank

Default Why a Backdraft?

I purchased my used 2004 Backdraft for several reasons....there reputation is amazing. When I called Backdraft in FL I spoke with Reg Dodd personally. Like inquiring about a Henry rifle and speaking with Anthony directly...very good customer relations...The BDR was built a little larger to accommodate 6'+ drivers.
I especially liked the BMW independent rear end. I think the quality of the car is as good as Superperformance and some of the other higher priced replicas at a much more reasonable cost and BDR's seem to retain their value very well.

You are ready for a great experience. Drive it. They are great to look at, fun to tinker with polish, but the best feeling is DRIVING it.

Before making a selection, I only focused only on two types, SuperF and BDR. My last close look was at the January 2020 Barrett Jackson Show in AZ. Still torn between the two, I spent a lot of time at the BDR booth. Spoke for some time with Frank Dobb. I was taken back by the beauty of the BDR car and their eye for details.

I wanted to stay in the high 60's or low 70's but I also wanted a new looking car. All of the SuperF cars in that price range had either a lot of miles on them or had nicks and just didn't look and feel right. For my price range, I bought a new BDR, blackout package, RT4, Diamond Interior seats, Ruby Red with a black stripe, a real beauty.

I would send you a photo but can't seem to upload the photos. I'll need to get the kids to do it

Don't get me wrong, the SuperF is a great car but new, you're looking at $100k all day long to do it right.

Congrats, just ordered mine through Auto Cafe in FL. It’s build #1937. I ordered it with the last Roush BDR had which was a blacked out one otherwise I would if had to wait around 3-4wks . I hope I enjoy it as I just sold my C7 Z06 Vette for this . Ordered it also with a heater and a top for the wife as we live in WI.

Gus,

I kid you not, I was looking at that exact same car (pictures saved on my phone!) and thinking that it is the best paint combo I have ever seen! Congratulations sir! Very very beautiful car! Enjoy many safe miles in it turning heads...

Congrats and welcome:

Serious question: how old are you Gus and the other guys that are thinking of buying? Curious to know the age of new buyers.

Chopperguy and fastd- Thank you both for your messages.

First to Chopperguy, I agree, the color combo is really an eye catcher. It's a fun car! Backdraft offers a few different reds. This particular red is the "Ruby Red".

To fastd, I enjoy certain cars and I'm a weekend race-car warrior, with my main race car being a Dodge Viper Comp Coupe. I've been around Vipers for many years, basically a Mopar guy. As to my age, let's say that I qualify (but don't belong to ) AARP.
