Default Two Red lights On - what to check?

Hello everyone,

European Cobra owner of #855 living in Athens, Greece.

Just recently while I was driving the two red lights went ON on the dashboard. (normal layout as showing below)

https://drive.google.com/open?id=19P...gjGPUDe8nmkWH1

I have checked with the following order and still those lights are ON:

- Engine oil was low, and I had to add 3lt to be back to normal levels.

- 70A Fuse passenger side / under the bonnet of the car. Seems to be OK
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rg...WT1dfaCLMVXtfw

- Both Cables from the Altenator = OK.
Only one cable does not look perfect (image below)
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rk...NIAK2O8qyX1GLV

- Brake fluid (driver's side) - was not full. It was purple color, so assuming I got it right it was DOT4?? ...so just I added Motul 600 RBF DOT 4

- Other cables I have checked: (Oil Temp, Oil PSi, Water Temp, Another cable from Altenator "Solenoid" )

The battery used to be around the 15Volt+ when driving with lights off and now is around the 13-14V. So, I noticed some drop there, but I am not 100% sure if that is normal or my imagination.

Lastly, my timing belt is a bit looser, my local mechanic said that on purpose he adjusted it, since one bolt that tightens it broke under a 4th gear pull (now fixed), so his advice was to do it with less tension so the belt "to be able to jump if needed' by providing some slack under violent acceleration. Does this make sense? Mabe this can cause the two red lights to be on?

Any other ideas?

Thank you,
Andronikos

I'd say you have electrical fault in the warning lights circuit.
First thing to do is disconnect the oil pressure switch and see if the oil pressure lamp is then NOT illuminated with the key on.

That story your mechanic talks about with your tooth belt belt drive is rubbish.

The belt should never be slack enough to allow it to slip.

Your belt needs to be a bit tighter than what you have, but I don't think it is the cause of your trouble.

Good morning Andronikos, and happy Easter !The light to the right is the brake fluid level warning, so if you have topped that off and the light is still on, you have a wiring or sender problem.

The light to the left side is the ignition pilot light, which should extinguish when the engine is started (alternator running)
There should be a small yellow wire at the alternator (aux terminal) If the wiring checks out, it may be an internal problem with the alternator.

You said the charging voltage was running 15 v then went down to 14v Proper charging voltage should be 13.75 vdc to 14.25 vdc.

the "cog" belt is your accessory drive belt, not your timing belt and does not require the same tension as a "V' belt, but yours is too loose.

If your brake fluid was purple it was dot 5 silicone not dot 4.

DOT 4 & 5 are not compatible. I see you found the previous threads on this subject; it might also pay to do some Googling.
