Default Driver's side door latch broke...

...and I need a replacement. The failure appears to be in the mechanism somewhere that I can't get to. Do any of you BDR dealers out there have any spares? Iconic Parts is out of stock. Chassis #168, 54K miles, probably just wore out.

https://www.iconicparts.com/door-latch.html
Sometimes they will cannibalize a part for you off a roller if you call them.

But those are made in the UK. for trucks and buses.

Also pay heed to the note on the Iconic site: Note: when you pull off your original latch you will see the opposite side due to the latches are used backwards. Please be aware of this and order your latch to the side you need not whats on the latch.

So order a R/H latch for the L/hand door.

wow spdbrake you are a fount of knowledge. I'll call Iconic today to see what they will do. Otherwise I'll try the other source you mentioned.

FYI, I'm a former corporate pilot and accident investigator. I like your "handle"

I could be wrong, but it seems like these would fairly easy to repair. Mine is #272, so I'd be interested to know if it is and what part of it failed.

Quentin:

I'm not sure how to open it up without destroying it. It is something inside the body assembly. Still noodling it...

Just spoke to Perry at Iconic, and he has one in stock for me, should be on its way today. Now I'll go out to the shop and see if I can take the broken one apart without destroying it completely. If I learn anything of value I'll post it here.

If it’s the same latch that other replicas use, there is a mod that makes them more reliable.

Thanks Ivygreen but the BDR latch is different.

Quentin: I haven't been able to disassemble the latch body. But I did find a broken spring that is most likely the culpret(sp?). I don't plan on looking any further or attempting repair.

A few years ago my latch worked intermittently. I found if I squeezed the assembly together, it worked consistently. A little tack weld on the housing kept it together and has been working ever since.
