Make sure you prove that the clutch adjustment works, before changing the fluid. There have been friction additives and all types of things recommended over the years. You never know what a previous owner may have done, especially if there was a problem.

I am fine with changing the fluid, but if the fluid makes a difference, you want it to be the only thing changed.

Last I talked with a factory guru advertising at a good guys show, he said ATF worked fine, and listed other things as well. I don't remember what all he said. It seems like friction modifiers are supposed to help. You might want to research that a bit before changing the fluid. You might want Brent's opinion, and experts like him. If you ask google you will get the opinions of millions of clueless people and very few experts. Remember God loves idiots, and he made them by the billions.

Quick follow up. I changed the tranny fluid with Tremec HP-MTF. Did notice after draining the old fluid that I was about 3/4 qt low on fluid. New fluid and filled to normal levels. I do have to say that I noticed even smoother shifting after the change.
