New member looking for events in san diego
I am expecting delivery of my new BDR in the next couple weeks and looking for events in San Diego. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It’s a drive for you but I like to hit the Cars n Coffee in San Clemente. Not a Cobra event but There’s usually 2 or 3 Cobras there as well as a lot of other four wheel eye candy. Exciting times for you!
|
One in Carlsbad too, every Saturday, Poinsettia Village 7130 Avenida Encinas, Carlsbad CA 92011
|
JBA cars and coffee, 7-9. 2nd Sunday of each month. Best muscle car hangout around. On-site burnout box for those that want to melt some tires!
|
Cruisin Grand car show in Escondido every Friday evening usually running from April through September.
Encinitas car show every third Thursday, May through September. El Cajon and La Mesa have theirs on Wednesdays throughout the summer. Check everyone’s web sites for updates. Dates have been changing since Covid. |
Our shop is located in Escondido. I have heard that the Escondido “Cruzing Grand” may not return as the city is going to redesign Grand and eliminate one lane in each direction, and move the sidewalk out further.

RACEWHERE, we are in Escondido just east of San Marcos. We specialize in Cobra work but welcome all vintage vehicles, original or otherwise.

Thanks John - I found that event online and it looks great. It's only about an hour north and definitely on the list.
|
Thank You
Thanks you everyone for your input. With the information provided, I now have an event calendar Weds. thru Sun.

If you head up there, let me know. I’ll try to make that week too

Definitely - Our delivery was delayed until Monday and we still have to start the title and registration process. Should have the temp reg. in the next couple weeks.

Are you prepared for the SB100 registration process? If not, time to do some research so you won’t make any mistakes. California registration of specially constructed vehicles can be a minefield.
And above all, do not try and register your 2022 backdraft replica as a 1965 Shelby cobra. California considers that as fraud. And, fyi, if your car was built by the same company that installed the drive train, California considers that a completed vehicle purchase (turnkey, not a component car) and as such must meet all current smog and safety laws. So be prepared to show that one company built the chassis and another company (not owned or associated with the chassis manufacturer) installed the drive train. Separate receipts for each process is a plus. Good luck and let us Californians know if you need any help with the process. |
Hey Jim - Yes I am well aware of the Backdraft registration process. This is my second Backdraft. I was one of about 30 who were duped by Arman back in 2007 with the 1965 registrations. I ended up selling it because I didn't want deal with the headaches with the DMV. I regretted selling the vehicle so I purchased another one from Frank. This time I did in depth research and understand the process and the required paperwork to conforms with the requirements. The vehicle was constructed by two different company's. However; I still don't want the headaches and I am paying a person who has an expertise in SB100 and has done 100's of these and other vehicles. Thanks for checking and heads up.

Hiring the SB100 expert is the way to go. Before I bought my BDR is was looking at a couple cars at Hillbank in Irvine. They recommended a guy for the registration. I got the same name from someone at Cars n Coffee too. Ended buying my BDR with SB100 tag
|
I am sure it is the same guy, he is up in Irvine near you.
|
Rancho Santa Fe Cars and coffee. Every Saturday morning from 8-11am. There is always a handful of Cobras along with a bunch of other great cars.
