Default RT3 fuel pump options

Dropping the plastic fuel tank and I inadvertently snapped one of the plastic fuel line spigots off the original submersible plastic fuel pump (a VW) pump.I have had a good go with 'rapid fix ' and started the car with no evident leaks. However I'm not 100% happy with gluing a fuel fitting, my car has a 289 fuel injection hotrod modular crate engine. Although the original pump is easily available, not sure if I want to go plastic again. I'm hoping someone here has had the experience of doing a replacement pump, any ideas much appreciated.

I replaced my walbro with less than 2k miles on my car. The pump failed while I was driving home leaving me stranded for a couple hours. It didn’t to long to figure out the pump wasn’t running. When I pulled the pump I found the ground wire had come loose. The pump was fine after reconnecting the ground. The wiring connections in the tank looked horrible so I decided to replace the wiring and the pump. I went back with an Aeromotive 340 fuel pump. I haven’t had any issues with new pump. The way the new pump is wired makes it less likely to come loose. The walbro pump was not the issue. It was how it was wired up. I was told the walbro pump was a very good pump.

Thanks Mike, I'll take that into account as well, dropping the tank is a bit of work so I only want to do it once more.

The best way to repair this is to order the aluminum tank and Aeromotive drop in pump from Backdraft. It's the only way I'd do it...

Or , just use an external pump and never pull the tank again.

Here is another aftermarket provider with very configurable solutions, click here => Fore Innovations. Your tank looks like a Ford so check out the Ford stuff

Thanks eschaider, the fitting is holding so far and I'm not registered or driving so I will take my time and research the options everyone has put forward, I see you have the 4.6 ltr ford can you tell me more about that?or maybe direct me to a different thread on your setup, cheers Rob.

It is different than the 4.6 you are using, Rob. It is a 4V vs. a 3V, so valve train will be different. Additionally, it is PD boosted, so front-end accessory drive stuff will necessarily also be different.

If you go to my gallery, you will find pics of various phases of the build. When I decided to use the boosted, late-model 4V Cobra engine for power, I recognized there would be a lot of fabrication involved — I just underestimated how much would be required.

Take a look around the gallery and if you have questions I will attempt to answer them.
