Question BDR Mirror location

Please forgive me I only ask because I'm interested...

On the BDR website I noticed in the gallery section that there are two locations for the driver side mirror. One is attached to the windshield and the other is on the fender. Do I have the choice of location or is it an extra option?

Mattr762,

You do have a choice. The bullit mirror is the one attached to the fender and the Raydot mirror is attached to the windshield. Now with that said, you could likely have the Raydot on the fender as well, but everyone I spoke with said you get better range and use from the raydot attached to the windshield as opposed to the fender mounted mirror.

The raydot is an upgrade option at a slight cost.

Hope this helps.

I saw the upgrade cost on BDR. But why is that on upgrade? Made from the same materals right? Same size? Are you paying for the brand? or the location? I prefer the "look" of it installed on the fender, but I'm sure the windshield frame gets in the way, right?

The car comes with the fender mount mirror. We'll leave it in the trunck unless you request that we mount it for you. The Ray Dot mirror and windshield bracket can be purchased from Finish Line. The cost is $125 for mirror and $25 for bracket.(or there abouts)

The Ray Dot is a much more expensive product, probably has to do with production volume. The fender mount mirror is a much more common unit.

Thumbs up

Mattr 762

I was down in Ocala, FL last week at Reptile Roundup and ask the same question to a number of Cobra owners and got almost the same answer from all of them. The mirror on the fender is almost of no use because your vision is blocked out by the rear fender. In fact, one BDR owner was going to remove his and fill the holes.

I just ordered my BDR this week and I am not getting the fender mirror installed.

WOW! Look at that! I ask a question and I learned something! I didn't even think about the rear fender being in the way. Thanks guys.

Now if I could just get my other thread some attention.
