Sent Reg Deposit for #208 Today
I finally made the leap and sent my deposit off today. Put my name on car #208 ... Indy Blue with Silver stripes. I optioned up for the 17" polished wheels, the oil cooler (completes the look of the front end), and the ray dot mirror. Can't wait to get it all together.
Next step will be to pull the 351W from my '67 Mustang 'vert and given a full overhaul to 427...
Anyone else use those valve cover adapters to use 427 valve covers? Also a turkey pan setup?

Congratulations!
Cashburn,
Congrats on BDR #208. I know you will enjoy it. Are you going to do your own drivetrain install?
I did mine and I am no expert, just a shade tree mechanic who likes to tinker. I really had no problems, except when it came to having more than 2 arms to get the job done. Years ago I built a custom VW baja bug and complete engine teardown/rebuild with all the chrome and big bore stuff, and did all the work myself except for the paint job.
This Cobra project was the first time for a V8/Trany install. I learned alot from doing it myself. My dealer was always there for me when I had questions.
You will always have information readily available to you with the Backdraft and the Club Cobra Families.
Enjoy & Happy Holidays!

Cashburn,
Welcome to the club and congratulations on your new toy. You will have a lot of fun. I think a couple of guys have used the valve cover adapters, but as for the turkey pan on the 351 intake, that you may have to make yourself.

Thanks everyone! I'm looking forward to getting the whole package together. Been around them enough at this point and have plenty of inside help to get everything bolted together. But there will be questions no doubt about it.
Actually it's a bit of a family project since my brother is Brian at Diamond Back Racing (DBR) --- formerly of Team C Racing. So I've been around and involved in a number of the installs.
Looking at it as a fun build that in the end will pit my '67 I've built over the years vs. the Backdraft to see which one keeps its spot in the stable.
Check out my '67 sometime at www.classic-mustang.net/jay

What's the time frame from deposit to delivery of the BDR?

The car is in stock, so when I placed the order Reg asked if I wanted it next week. Their are enough in the pipeline now that delivery time is short if you are not seeking a custom color and interior combo. Only thing holding it up is that I don't have a place to put it at the moment and the polished 17" wheels are on backorder for 4 weeks.

Cashburn,
Congrats on the order. I also did my engine/trans install. It was a fun project. There seems to always be a few little quirks or questions so feel free to post them. There is always a lot of help out here in cyber space.

Congrats.. You will be a happy camper when you stand on the gas... only problems I have are minor.. wires pulled out of connectors hooked to wires ( black & orange) from MSD box as I was hooking up shift light and putting tie wraps on..and car would not start...these should probably be soldered as over the years I have had more than 1 wire connecter fail .. also wiper on passenger side flops around.. took it apart there is a little shim with teeth on it that are stripped... under the wiper arm itself.. with 17" wheels and tires you really dont need limited slip.. plenty of traction.. shift light is a plus as I bounced off the rev limiter more than once in 1st gear...bought on ebay $50 delivered & no tach needed as it has a dial on back to set RPM's have fun & be careful as the grin on your face may not wipe off...

Got here a couple days ago. Looks great! Honestly I am supposed to build this as a side hobby/project ... but it may not be possible for me to part with it when it's done. I've driven these before, I know how it is. We will see. Check my gallery, I will add pics...
