Default Soft top for BDR???

Hi,

I'm considering ordering a soft top for a new BDR. Just wondering what your opinions are if any of you have them. Are the easily stored in the trunk?
I will need it only as something to shed some rain in an emergency when parked at an event or show. I havent taken delivery of the car yet and it is still at Reg's
in Florida.

Thanks,
Rick

Reg and Frank just installed a soft top for me. I will keep it on all winter. Looks to be a little work to take on and off. It does reduce vision a bit, but keeps the wife's perm from frizzing. Worth the cost IMHO.

If you can afford it, do it. Well worth the money on those cold nights (or days for that matter) when you are dying to take it out for a spin. The top folds up nicely. It just fits in the trunk. Looks better than any one I've ever seen on another cobra. Watch the snaps. Unless they have changed, they can come loose out of the car. If you do the top, get they cover. Birds can always find the inside of the car at a parking lot.

Can somebody give me a quick breakdown on how a BDR vinyl soft top is initially fitted?

Tony assures me that mine is on the way, and Boudy promised to drive 2 hr north to help with the install, but his time is valuable and you would not BELIEVE how that little Cajun can scarf groceries!

The only other "true" ragtop I had was my '59 Sprite, which was already fitted, and took about 10 minutes to put up or take down and stow.

Any special tools? Heat gun, anything like that?

I am embarrassed, I have not seen a BDR with a ragtop installed.

Thanks guys.

Finally over the flu-how 'bout U?

UT

The rear comes all fitted since a template is used to determine the location of the rivets. The front section at the windshield comes unfinished and an auto top/upholstery shop can finish it off to fit tight.

What about side windows. I have heard that the BDR top does not come with them? Is this true and if not how are the windows installed?

So since I did not order a top with mine I will need rivets put in for a tenneu(sp) or top to work? Am I understanding you correctly?

Hey UT

I've seen Boudy eat (some of my wife's Jambalaya) so I BELIEVE how that little Cajun can scarf groceries!

I'll pass on the flu for this year - thanks

regards

Hi gang,
I own BDR#12 and I ordered my car with all the extras including the original style windshield upgrade, at that time they did not install the soft tops on this type of windshield. I took the top that came with the car and had it fitted at a good uphoustery shop. You to can do the same as I did if you decide to purchase one at a later date. My wife sure likes the top.

The top mounts just like the tonneau cover so you need the same rivets. This goes for the side curtains too on the door. At the front it locks into the channel on the windshield frame...

The hardtop does not have side curtains, but the softop does (and it fits in the trunk too )

With all this talk of tops I got Reg to send me some photos of them installed... I put them in our gallery at:
