BDRCobra,

Since you don't list where you are located, an answer to your questions are a little bit difficult.

The basic car itself is I believe $28,900.00. (There are many options you may want to purchase as well.) You will need to factor in freight, unless you are going to pick it up in Florida. Freight could run your bill up a $1000.00 or more depending on where you are located.

Then add the cost of an engine. There are used 302s, new ones, mild 302s, hot, high horsepower 302s, etc. So the cost could be all over the place. (Don't buy too mild an engine, because the first thing you will want is more horsepower!)

Now throw in a transmission. I think the 3550 has been replaced by a new model, but it sounds like you may have a 3550 available? A transmission can run all kinds of different amounts.

Now factor in putting the car together with all the other parts needed to complete an engine and transmission installation. Get a copy of the Backdraft Assembly Manual. It lists most of what you will need. So, do it yourself and save. Have someone else do it, and the costs go up considerably.

I would count on spending at least $40K, and it could run into the high 40s depending on options, labor, taxes and licensing (don't try to sneak by on taxes, it'll bite you in the butt later!). So, have fun, but be realistic.
