The BMW components in the system (master cylinder, calipers) are designed for DOT-4 fluid. I have three BMWs, and run Motul RBF 600 racing fluid in them. It is great. No soft pedal ever. The only reason I don't run it in my Backdraft is that I don't know how to get the DOT-5 fluid out.
