Wheel well protective coatings?
I am getting my new BDR in about a month (totaled my last one) and I am getting the Avon tires on them. I have heard that they may pick up rocks easily and throw them into the wheel wells, at least a lot more then the BFG's. Has anyone coated inside the fendors with any rubberized compounds to reduce noise and prevent spider cracking of the paint? Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

Suncoast Cobra undercoated the wheel wells in 2005. Just regular undercoat in a spray can. Masked the parts not to be sprayed and the areas that needed covering got a good coat. no body marks and quiet on the road.

I'm going to use lizard skin most likely.... but I may use rhino since it is more readily available should I run out midway.

Lizard Skin all over the underside, and the wheel wells, and inside the engine compartment

I took my car to the local Linex dealer and they did a great job of masking and spraying the wheel wells.
ps - You're going to LOVE the Avons.
psps - I think you'll be surprised that the Avons aren't going to throw gravel and rocks nearly as badly as you might expect - but I'd line the fender wells.

I purchased an adhesive backed neoprene (5/16) from "Top of the Hill Performance". It seems to be holding up well. I think the post was titled "Inner Fender Rock Protection". It comes custom cut to your car. Pricey! Call Craig Hill at (925) 449-3330.

I used spray on rubberized undercoating. Picked up a couple of cans from Pep Boys. Inexpensive, easy to come by, easy to apply, seems to work well.

I never thought about this... my sticky Nittos, after a drive through a gravel parking lot, will throw chips for a good two miles after hitting the highway, sounds like we are taking rounds!
The last spray-can undercoating I used was 20 years ago on my go-fast '72 Nova, and the sound suppression was remarkable.
I dread pulling off my carefully torqued-on wheels, however, to get to the wheelwells...

Does Lizard Skin go on thick like Rhino liner or Linex? Is it rubbery, or more like paint?

Never used Rhino, but I don't think Lizard Skin is as thick. Goes on like paint, rubbery finish, slightly 'knobbled' texture.
