Metallic/Flake Candy Apple Red BDR's?
Anyone finish their car in a nice metallic/flake candy apple red?
I'm getting ready and I like the Prism Red but it has too much of a tendency to look purple in the wrong light, which I don't like...
Since it'l be a while before I own my red Ferrari (like a REAL long while... ), I think I'd like my snake to be a shiny metallic/flake candy apple red. But I'd love to see if anyone did it already and what it looks like...
Thanks!

mine's Crimson Red... an earlier color (#89). I had the same thoughts... that it tended to look pinkish/purplish in certain lights. It photographs VERY red... there appears to be a lot of silver in the base coat. I always get compliments on it tho. Actually, I would've preferred Prism Red. Everyone's taste is different...
Here it is in direct sun...
and in the shade...

Very nice!
I've seen prism Red is three different pictures and I have LOVED it in some and didn't like it so much in others.
I think I need to see it in person before I can rule it out.
I went to a Snake meeting last year out in PA and there was a car there I liked a lot. I don't remember who owned it so i'm left with a photo and a memory. Great people at the meeting tho.
Emjoy your car. it's a beauty!

Matt,
Are you going to see us in Atlantic City at the end of the month?
I know exactly what you are saying about prism red. It can get rather dark and some of the photos alter it a bit to really skew the color.
There is another color in the BDR palette called Blaze Red that is metallic and a little darker than the typical straight reds.
Here is a metallic red I love, I had a car on order last year in this combo but the customer switched the color to a basic blue at the last minute, I think it would have been a knockout:
Give me a call if you need anything answered.

You met Bob and Ann. They are a fixture at our events. He has the Prism Red / Silver Stripes with the Roush 402. They are joining us in Atlantic City, they sell the cars better than I can.

That Lomborghini is the funniest looking Cobra I have ever seen!!!
I think the best thing to do is just wait until the time finally comes and then come up to Connecticut and take a looksie at what-ya-got.
I can describe the color as a metallic/flake candy apple red. But if I see some paint chips I can tell in 2 secs.
And yes, they where there. Lovely people!
the one I was referring to wasn't a BDR.
I'm still a wee bit away from thinking about taking the plunge. In this economy ya gotta be careful about luxury expenses. So I'm in pay down mode right now. But I can't wait for the day!!!

Mattnshilp,
Have you seen the Monterey Red that Backdraft is using? It is similiar as prism red, but with alot more pop in color. More flake I believe. It will be in the shop sometime next week. Very nice color.

The color is Monterey Red Metallic Tint Coat (color code 80U) and was a $750option for a limited time on the 2007 Corvette. I saw the color at a Vette show and loved it so asked BDR to paint it that color and they graciously did so. It really looks sharp with the side pipes on. I also had a ghost stripe painted but the stripe doesn't show up very well in photos. I haven't figured out how to post a photo on CC or would send the few I have with the car complete. I saw a candy apple red replica at the last Carlisle show but don't remember the manufacturer. I liked it better than the color I have.
