Just for knowledge, what makes any of these shifter any better than the others ? Why is the stock TKO shifters bad. What about the B&M ?
I'm buying a new 600 Tremec and wanting the best for the money.
Let's get down to the nitty-gretty boyz.

The stock shifter isn't inherently bad, but the aftermarket kits shorten the throw and give you a more positive shift. I drove my car for about 1,000 miles with the stock TKO shifter before going to the Steeda Tri Ax (recommended to me by a local owner) and I've been very happy with it. I don't know about anything about the other aftermarket kits, but the Steeda and the Pro-shift seem to be popular with Cobra owners.
BTW - The shift from second to third is interesting until you get familiar with it.

PRO 5.0, buy it, love it.
for the Tremec, it is the best shifter.
Of course I had one installed on my car...

Kevin, it just feels more like a gated shift, without the gate. Not sure how else to explain it but that I NEVER have missed a 2-3 shift with the Pro 5.0. It is more notchy feeling, but I have gotten comfortable with it and it's not as rubbery feeling as the stock Tremec units.

I have one on my Australian DD GTO (JHP GMM Ripshifter) which is a 6 speed (Tremec) - the way it works is rather simple. You are actively pushing against springs in the lateral direction, the default position is the neutral slot between 3-4. It thus becomes very easy to find gears, and the throws are adjustable with set screws. There is no slop and your shifting becomes second nature, I commute in stop and go Wash DC traffic, it is a necessity.

I miss my 2nd-3rd shift all the time on my Tremec, looks like I'm shopping for a Pro-5,, I'm guessing I have to drop the tranny, hole in the floor not big enough?

See RedBarchetta's post for the Performance Unlimited link. Performance Unlimited just saved me 20 bucks on the car cover I wanted. I would check their price.
