Has anyone tried a paint like what they put on rocker panels? It has like a krinkle finish to it and is the same color as the paint.

Yes, I've tried both Rhino Liner and 3M spray on rocker guard versions in car-color and in black. Ended up with black to make it easier for touch up. Works pretty good. Prefer the 3M stuff more. DC

Not to beat this dead horse, but I stopped in the local LineX dealer today and he said he could spray the fender area to provide good protection from stones. Bad news is that stuff will not come off, so it is a one way trip . Has anyone gone this route, and has comments?

So far, tried the following on the same car:

1. ERA leather snap on spats
2. Line-X spray on (black)
3. 3M spray on (clear over paint)
4. 3M spray on (black)

Yes, I did. Tried the Line-X in black for one year and didn't like it. Was too thick looking and it always bothered me to look at it. When I removed it, rather than trying to sand it off, I just grabbed a corner edge of it and pealed it right off in one piece right off the car. Once you get underneath it it will peal off and pull paint off with it so be prepared to repair the undersurface when you apply this and remove it later.

Sanded it all back down again and applied the 3M black spray on stuff, and that looks cleaner and not nearly as thick. Ended up with 3M spray on Black for now. If I repaint my car down the road I will go with the good clear stuff high up on the fender next time.

Me to! In fact, if Chris does come up with a good mold for spats on our cars I may get a set (no matter what color) and have them metalized(sp?).

Metal Morphus over on FFC does aluminum look-a-like painting. Incredible looking work. Alsa corp. have a wide range of chrome-in-a-can products.

Hi Steve,

I am happy with the fitment that I have and expected to have the mold finalized by the end of this week but as luck would have it I have to go to new orleans for work next week so looks like it'll be another week or two. Good news is that the part is a perfect fit and it doesn't look like a stuck on carbon part.

chris.

Hi guys,
Sorry for the delay...I'm back on the project. I had an accident with a screwdriver and my face at the end of last year and even with respirators I've had a hard time with fumes. The style I've come up with is the "old english"style and it doesn't appear intrusive on the the look of the car and I will post a picture as soon as the first part is out.

Also going to be working on a direct replacement carbon scoop....

I'm working on some ally ones and stainless ones to fit a 4000 body. I'll be interested to try them on some other breeds to see how they'll fit.
