				 Alternate South Bay Locations
The thread regarding an alternate south bay location is getting a little leggy. May I suggest that we use this thread over the next week or so to post breakfast locations (that have been scouted for adequate parking and other amenities) that can handle our group for our semi-monthly breakfast. If agreeable, we mutually decide on a handful of those locations and rotate between them throughout the summer in order that the group has the opportunity to sample the food and ambience. Naturally we would need to post the list of restaurants and the mornings we plan to visit. By the end of the summer, after visiting the various options (at least once) we gather either on-line or at a neutral site and mutually agree on a new location.
North/south location - I appreciate the distance that Doug and other southern members must drive, as I am sure that t(he)y appreciate(s) the drives that our northern brethern take. The Bajis' location on the Mt. View/Palo Alto border and its proximity to the freeway would seem to be the ideal compromise. May I respectfully suggest we try to stay within five minutes or so from the 101/85 interchange if at all possible. Campbell for me is only 5 minutes closer than Livermore yet I fully understand the distance Doug and others travel from Santa Cruz or other parts south and their desire not to travel north of Palo Alto. Part of the fun of these cars is the Drive; however long drives, especially if alone, is generally not that appealing.

That said, Alice's continues to be a great destination for special and not-so special gatherings, particularly in the Summer. We could always meet once a month at a regular spot and the other Saturday at Alice's, Duartes, Bucks or some other fun location - at least this could be done from April till October.

BTW, has anyone spoken to Baji to let him know that his request is driving this potential move? In fact, was it Baji that made the request or someone in his staff?

 Tom

Virtually every place that has been mentioned with good parking in the South Bay/Peninsula area works for me. I'm central to most everything. Unfortunately, the Saturday 8:15 AM timeslot always makes it difficult for me to attend. Although I understand the reasoning behind that particular timeslot.
Tom, is off 280/85 not good for you?

Lastly, trying different places that have been scoped out is nice too.

 Tom,
I don't think anyone as spoken to Mr. Baji or his staff. I'm also not sure who originally brought the issue to Rich's attention. I'm open to trying some new locations if people are up for a change, but Baji's has been a good meeting spot, they know us, decent food, parking, separate checks makes it easy, etc.

Alice's is great (fun drive) and has pretty much become our "go to" breakfast spot from the beginning of Spring through late Summer. I like your idea of mixing it up a bit (i.e. Buck's) when the weather perks up.

Rodney - 280 and 85 adds 5-10 minutes for me. That said, let's see what is available along the CA85 corridor, a few minutes north and south. I personally would prefer going north from 280/85. That intersection would not allow some of the guys coming from further south to even get their motors warmed up. I think the location is more important than a few more minutes.

Doug clearly has the longest drive of folks coming from the south and I want to continue to respect his seat time.

Doug - perhaps Rich can weigh in on any Baji communication. It is unclear to me from the other post.

Thanks to all for giving this some consideration. |

Thanks Tom. Also, Ed from SF who is one of our regulars probably lives the farthest North.

I don't think that requesting that we don't back in at Baji's is that big a deal for anyone. My only complaint about Baji's is the food is marginal. If it's convenient, we can still meet there occasionally.

There is a Hobee's in Sunnyvale. Right off of 101, just after 237 and 85 on Mathilda Ave. |

I haven't made it to Baji's much, but I hope to make a few Saturday breakfast runs to the mid/south bay this year (now that the cars are running again and cutting back on Saturday golf). Livermore is a long boring drive from SF, especially when they meet so early. I've gone to North Bay Cobra group 1st Sunday breakfast - they usually meet at 10AM. They go to different restaurants.
I'm ok if it's under 1 hour from SF (going at the speed limit!)

"Baji's gives good breakfast. We can go to one of your outlaw places next time, Scott. And while I *may* be suffering from cabin fever, Doug, I was serious about the parking straight in request [nicely done from the owner]. I know it sounds goofy, but I guess their fan system really sucks in the exhaust and bothers some civilians."
As per the previous commentary, The "nicely done" request was from Mr. Baji himself, at the request of some "civilians." I didn't think that was enough to warrant our leaving the place in a huff. I thought some of our people just wanted to try some other place once in a while, which is fine with me. I suggested a couple of places north of us off 280, not thinking Portola Valley and Woodside were *too* far north. I'm kinda in the middle and am most interested in the quality of the food and parking. Rich |

 Tom,
Great thread ... there are a lot of good ideas here as to were to meet and have breakfast, I am OK with any of the suggestions.

When the weather is good Alice's has the best venue and good food, maybe we mix it up a bit some of the other times. |

Too bad we dont live closer to Carmel , we could do Brunch at Bernardus, the quail or spanish bay. coat the whole front of the place with cobras.
-- really freak out the squares. -- Any posh joints in-local that we can do the same/similar.

what is the name of that place on Hwy 9 between saratoga and los gatos >?
does the Toll House in los gatos still have a restaurant >?

Imagine 20 -30 Elvis impersonators arriving at a linen table clothed brunch....

There are a few "posh" restaurants around Los Gatos, say Manresa's, but the parking sucks... I loved Travese, but the economy doomed them... |

The best breakfast in LG is the Southern Kitchen, but the parking sucks. Go down there sometime and have the apricot french toast.

Another spot might be the Amertican Cafe in Sunnyvale on El camino Near Fair Oaks and Sunnyvale ave. Lots of parking and the food isn't bad. |

Just to throw a small wrench in this. I miss understood the first post. I thought it meant back in as in not coming back, not backing in the cars!
I have nothing against going to someplace different. We can even do a lunch or whatever for the late risers DAVE!
