Shelby value
I am thinking about purchasing an Aluminum Shelby 4000 series. What would be considered a decent deal in this current market (side or center oiler 427/428)?

Value is obviously what someone is willing to pay for it...however, with that being said...
at this years Barrett in Scottsdale...the price of the "fiberglass" CSX's reached the mid 120's plus the Barrett Fee...
if you are interested in the 2012 pricing for a "new" one...shoot me a message with your email and I will send you the most updated build/price sheets, along with the "most common" Engine/Trans/Install options.

I know a quite a few guys that have them in a little plastic bag. They are kind of big for the dash and commonly get put on the tunnel. They don't come installed on the cars I have seen. People worry about them being someones souvenir.
Aluminum CSX numbered car in this market you might find one in the 5 digit range but it seems the glass car prices are where the aluminum cars were a year ago. Where does that put them? Happy hunting.

Did these ebay listings sell, or what? They look nice.
I need an appraisal on a completed CSX 4000 aluminum car and would also like to know today's (real dollar) value on them.

Depends on what you want, - remember the CSX 4000 series was produced in no less than 6 different factory setups over a almost 20 year span . - this is a car where each example must be weighed on its individual circumstance.
Aluminum 4000's and their differences are like the difference between a 69 camaro and a 69 camaro - general values can be misleading, and the more knowledge you can obtain and understand as to configuration and its build will pay off in smart buying and owner enjoyment.
if you have the means to go in at full ticket, be sure to get whatever example checked out before you buy.
offer a serious cash deposit and its return if the car does not check out.
even if you negotiate them keeping 1K for the churn is better than a 120K hole in your pocket for the wrong car.
My money would be on a Kirkham produced 4000' - if you can find one.
Steve
