Looking for an aluminum CSX

I am in the market to purchase an aluminum bodied CSX 4000. I have been surfing the web and not coming up with anything. If anyone knows of one, please, pm me. Black or Blue would be the preference. Must be a mechanically sorted and no hit car.

I believe there is one available on Cobra Country. CSX 4273. http://www.cobracountry.com/cobra4sa...4273/home.html

Jim, Thank you for the lead. I believe the color would have to be changed for me and the price seems a little optimistic.

tnewland 09-16-2012 10:13 PM

You could always order a new one, there just 6000 series Cobras now?

tkb289 09-16-2012 10:18 PM

Don't know if this would fit your budget, but have you considered ordering an aluminum body roller that is painted, then do the motor & driveline install yourself?

It would be expensive, but very nice once it's all done ... just a thought.

I have heard a new roller from Shelby, if you can get one ,is around 130,000.00 and if that's true , adding engine and transmission along with rest of small stuff plus tires and wheels it adds up. The Kroyer engine is top shelf also.

Looks like a Kirkham rollbar.

Certainly not a color I would choose.

Check with REAL 1 here (click on his user name) as I believe his is still for sale. A truly stunning automobile, and priced accordingly.

Sir,

Your best option may be a Kirkham.

patrickt 09-17-2012 11:56 AM

I would think that if you were going to drop close to $150k that you would want it to be exactly what you wanted it to be. It's tough to find somebody else's car that is exactly what you want. It's usually exactly what they wanted.%/

Asking $160K for a CSX with Black Cherry paint may be optimistic, since I would think most aluminum CSX buyers would have to budget a complete repaint.

But plan to spend $130,000-$150,000 for any completed and sorted aluminum CSX. A top notch fiberglass CSX in BLACK with an original SOHC engine sold for $110,000 at auction recently in Monterey.

I wasn't aware that Evan (REAL 1) is selling his aluminum CSX. If so, then you should buy it.

He just posted a couple of hours ago in this thread: http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/all-...r-cobra-5.html and gave no indication whatsoever that his car was for sale. In today's market I would think you could get a decent deal, uhhh with those rebuilt carbs and all, and maybe he'll throw in a couple shots of Kate Middleton, too.

CSX4273 is a steal at $159,900! That is a beautiful car and well sorted out. I have seen it in person. I heard this morning that CSX aluminum rollers are now $145,000!!! Just sayin'...

BBQCYCLEWERKES 09-17-2012 01:22 PM

What about the one that had flood damage and rebuilt here on the forum? I think it is on page 5 of the forum classified section. Asking around $120,000 if I remember correctly.

A steal? For that kind of money, I'd want to see a set of real MAGNESIUM Halibrands.

Personally, I'd rather have paid $110K for the black Cammer CSX everyday of the week and twice on Sundays.

Obviously, just my humble opinion, but someone looking for an aluminum CSX will want a traditional Cobra color like say blue, black, red, etc.

Op said he didn't want a hit/damaged car.

Rod-I wish you did buy Billy's Cammer...

...but I love the look of the black cherry... all it needs is the 2 polished racing stripes down the middle, to match & set off all those other shinny bits. Now that would look seriously cool, not quite retro texan cigar smoking cool, but more Hugh Hefner in a robe & slippers, smoking a pipe cool

Agree! You'd get it when promised, guaranteed to be built correctly, and it's part of the registry. How can you lose?
