It might have been my son and me, assuming whoever it was didn't run you off the road or anything

We went up to Mt Hamilton from San Jose, stopped briefly at the Lick Observatory, then down the other side on San Antonio Valley Rd., then up to Livermore on Mines, and back to the Peninsula down 84 to the Dumbarton. A fabulous day.

Actually I was sort of surprised you were just putting along. I was headed South in the little tan Ford Explorer between the Junction and the Santa Clara county line. Yesterday was a 'town day' and I was headed back home. It looked like you were enjoying our country.

My wife and I like to go out early on Sunday mornings. We leave Santa Cruz about 7:00am get off at #84 to head over to Mines Rd then head up to Mt Hamilton for a picnic with binoculars and Colonel Sanders chicken.Has to be one of my all time favorite roads.

If you get in the neighborhood of the Junction, give me a call if you have time. I'm about 2 rock throws from there and always like to meet new friends.

It's a little choke and puke, over priced place run by a couple of old nasty grouchy people. Most people only go in out of desperation that are starving or don't know any better. Not many of the locals frequent it. The Junction Bar and Grill Restaurant Cafe | Mines Road | San Antonio Valley | Livermore | Patterson | California

Thanks, I'll have to give it a try. I'm about 1.5 hours away.

Try at your own risk. It's still a nice drive this time of year. Go early before the bicycles are out. They will make you crazy on weekends trying to get over Mt. Hamilton.
