Greetings, - Peter Brock will be here at PANAVIA with the BRE crew and the Inside story with his book ;

Corvette Sting Ray: Genesis of an American Icon.

We will have light food and drink for all, and you get to meet the Panavia crew and see what we are working on ; Cobras, Daytona Coupes , Stingrays, Mustangs and the occasional GT-40 ! --it is all here at Panavia!

Probably about 7 -- run about 20 - 30 mins , then questions, then signing books, talking with folks.

we are going to have a show up on the big screen and talk about all sorts of things.

The Name transcends the image of America’s favorite sports car.

What was the unusual combination of personalities and events that enabled its production?
Peter Brock knows the story intimately as he was part of it. 19 and fresh out of California’s Pasedena Art Center College of Design, he had little idea that corporate circumstances far beyond his understanding would deliver the opportunity of a life time.

In 1957 the Corvette program was in jeopardy. America’s first modern sports car was just four years old and projected sales were nowhere near meeting upper management’s goals. A corporate mandate by General Motor’s President had already been issued, to terminate any hint of “performance” across GM’s entire line. There seemed little hope the Corvette would survive. Bill Mitchell thought otherwise.

"The Pilot Line" is the first 25 Cars for the 1963 Production line... so basically the earliest production sting ray!
