Default SB100 Glitch?

Hello All,

I've been receiving Smog Certification Notice on my registration for the last 3 years. I've had my Superformance Cobra since 2006, and each year was fine, until the last 3 yrs, as I had mentioned. I called a special phone# to Sac upon my first smog notice, and they confirmed it was SB100 smog exempt. Each time I renew my reg, I would have to fill out a DMV form; "Statement of Facts", and would receive my tags in the mail.

Has anyone else been going through this, or know how to resolve receiving smog cert required? Thank you.

Steve

Somebody at DMV entered the information incorrectly when you first registered the vehicle and no one knows how to correct it. It happened to a guy over on the FFR forum and he went through hell every year because he kept getting smog notices even though he had gone through the sb100 process.

Thanks Jim. I ran the VIN and verified the SB100 certification with my source in Sacramento, and it was clear. I haven't had any smog notices for 4-5 years, then suddenly every year since 2012. I'll have to make another call and see if this can get straightened out.

I believe every new model vehicle is required to get a smog certification every other year beginning with the 6th year after first purchase.
Sounds like your sb100 exemption is going to need some straightening out.

Good luck.

Been going through a TON of hoops on my newly purchased CR Cobra. I am about half way through the process now....what a joke! I will certainly make sure the right info is entered so I dont get those pesky smog notices! Good luck to you!

Jim, that's where I think I got caught up in this. My registration states my car is 2006 model year, and SB100 is not acknowledged on the registration, but is recognized by VIN or license#. I'll look into this... Best of luck to you CobraDude66!
