As threatened, we have a tentative booking at Buttonwillow Raceway for Monday, September 9. Buttonwillow is a challenging road course the details of which are at:
http://www.buttonwillowraceway.com/
We use the complete track (plan# 21) which is similar to #25 as shown, plus the extra curves and straight at the top of the map.
For the Cobra guys - there is basically nothing to hit as there is only one wall on the pit straight.. it is pretty tough to connect with it without REALLY trying. The area off the track, should agricultural work be desired, is hard as a rock and affords safe straight line stopping whilst precluding damage to one's machine...
We will have two run groups - group A and group B.
Group A is for those who wish to drive with passing only on the straights.
Group B is for those who feel confident driving with open passing, ie passing any where and every where on the track.
Coaches will be available for the A group and anyone can switch groups at their own discretion - they just have to honour the passing rules of that group .
Most of the participants drive very high buck cars, so rough or intimidating driving is not tolerated - we invite our friends to this event (even our new Breakfast friends!) , so we expect that they will come and go as such...
In 5 years of events, we have only had one on track incident - a broken wheel hub. In case this should alter, we have an ambulance, marshalls and a tow truck standing by at the event.
You will get at least 4 hours of track time, a free lunch and a lifetime of bench racing stories for $180- Such a deal!
Price may decrease depending upon interest, although we will limit this to 45 cars or so as that seems most workable...
Last time there were Ferraris (including an F40), Porsches, Mustangs, BMWs and of course my Honda 9to intimidate the others!) Let's bring some Cobras, so the sound will improve! (there are no Db limits at this track!)
Let me know....
Steve
As no one is interested, I have let the date go at the track.....
How strange that with all of these fast cars, not one is ready for the track.....
