Anyone planning on going this Saturday? If so where can we meet to drive down together or meet at the track?

I will be going down ,but kind of early... did you get paddock parking from the shelby Club? If you did it is imperative to be at the track about 8:30 or so ...... we could meet at a convienient location if you like... I will be there about 7 or so...

 Steve,
Yes I have the parking from NorCal. I'm hoping to get a few members so we can drive down together. Also for those who will arrive later to have a meeting time and location at the track.

 Stan & Steve,
I am going down on Friday to go to the Concourse de Italia in Carmel Valley. I will stay down there Friday night but would like to meet folks at the track about 8:15 to 8:30 on Saturday morning at the Shelby corral.

I was down in Carmel last weekend and there are already 100's of Corvettes in town. Is anyone else going to be down on Friday or Saturday night? We need a little cobra representation in town this weekend.

My story from last year is that I was waiting in line to get into the Concourse de Italia; I was there real early as I volunteer. I was in line with the entrants, Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s and one cobra. There was a little 80-year-old lady standing on the side of the road watching the parade. When I got up to her she gave me a smile and so I gave the throttle a little blip. She smiled again and gave me thumbs up. It made my day.

Randy Klein e-mailed he is heading down, Let's nail this down on a location and time.
 Stan

Dave 8-815 sounds good at the corral. Depending on traffic, etc.

I plan on driving down around 10:00 am Saturday morning. Why is it imperative to be in the paddock with the Shelby Club so early?
 Regards,

 John

Norcal usually doesn't fill up its parking spots.

 Stan,
If that answer was intended for me, thanks. However, I still don't get it. Will I not be able to park with the Shelby Club if I'm not there by 9:00? 8:00? 7:00? Will I be forced to park in the boonies? Do they give spots away at a certain time? Please explain if you have any experience as I do not.

 Thanks

I've always arrived early but cars do wander in later. Again there is usually alot of space available for the club.Contact Lewis Downs at Norcal Shelbyfor more information.

 Stan...
Do you want to go down 17 (the fun but freezing way) or 101 on Saturday? If we use 17, we could meet up at the Lark exit, if that is convienient for you as there is a fair amount of space to wait... If you want to go 101 (boring but warmer), I can meet you at the Bernal road exit so we can use the Monterey hwy to avoid the construction problems on the "Sierra Club" hwy..... I am thinking about 7 at either place... we should arrive early as the track doesn't like to let people in after 10 or so, also the races start at 9...

Ok guys, I’ll be at the Shelby Corral area at 8:15 on Saturday for anyone who wants to get together then. For those who arrive latter, John, how about 10:00 at the drive in entrance to the pit/paddock area? It is on the west side of the Paddock near turn 4. My cell phone is 408-210-7839 for anyone who gets lost. Randy Klein will be there all three days if anyone is going Friday. If anyone else is going to the Concourse de Italia on Friday I am in charge of coffee and doughnuts at the west gate.
 See you there

 Dave,
Thanks. I'll give you a call Saturday morning. I spoke with Bob Marsh from Shelby and he said I could park with him as Lewis from the Shelby Club told me I was too late. I'm sooooo confused. Probably because we have friends in town this weekend and I'm trying to "get away" for "just a few hours" in Monterey. At this point, I just hope I make it.

 Randy,

That Zaino stuff is great! I'll be sure to stop by and say hello for you.

 Regards,

 John

Extra: Flagroom Tickets to the historics
 Ladies and Gentlemen,
I've come by two extra tickets for the flagroom and close-by parking. They are from a friend and fellow CC member who, at the last moment, couldn't make it. If any of you are interested in them, please let me know. They are for all three days (Today is a loss though.) It includes two seats in a tent near turn 5 as well as breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. I will check e-mail here tonight to see if there are any takers.
 ------------------OR------------------------------
My cell phone number is 415-810-2204. You can call me there too if you want the tickets. I will entertain any price offers for this package worth over $500!

 All the best

Friday and Saturday AT LSR were great
 Welll, folks,
There are Cobras to the left of me and Cobras to the right of me...with a "few" 'vettes interspersed around too. Some sort of 50th anniversary editions being offered this year.

"The race" on Saturday ended on a yellow flag with 'vette's 1st and 3rd and the Cobras 2nd and 4th with lots of vying going on in the back of the pack among GT-350s, Cobras and Vettes..and a few Ferraris and other exotics that I can picture here later.

It looked to me like the Cobras could have their way with the 'vettes but for some behind the scenes maneuvering on behalf of Corvette weekend...:-(

 All the best,
 Gentlemen and Ladies!

				 Foul!
You said it! I guess that is the only way that the 'vettes can win, if we let'em?
...or if they run into us....as in #22 between turns #1 and #2.

This is the car driven by Mac Archer. He went from the back to the front of the pack last year to pass a Ferrari at the last turn. This year, he was making another fast pass on a 'vette that lost control and spun into his left side, taking him out of the race (and this was supposed to be non-contact). It was clear that Mac could do what he wanted out there; so he was either taken out unintentionally or ....?

I wish you all could have seen this race, it was awesome since it included two Corvette Grand Sports that were players but not as fast at Mac's 427 S/C side oiler.

Still burning about it....all the best Cobra fans...

Actually, the 22 car ran into the back of the vette under braking, causing the damage to the left front of the Cobra and the left rear of the other car.... a clear driving mistake, not the corvettte driver's fault at all....
 regards

				 hmmm
It will be interesting to hear how this plays out. I think there were several cameras on the cars that might have caught the footage.
From what I saw and heard, the 'vette driver was way over his head, lost control and drifted into the Cobra's path.

I know the old saying though, "believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see!"

I will follow this closely to find out how it is resolved.

All the best,
