Unhappy This is not turning out well

In light of what some of you have gone through as of late, this does not add up as much as anything. But here goes..In the past month i have been contacting owners about there cars. All have been SPF and all but one owners has come clean about DMV problems with there car..All cars were California cars but one..

First off i'am not a tire kicker. i will not waste your time if i not interested. Also, i will try to get all my ducks in a row before we talk money. So, i will ask a lot of questions..

Car 1 Southern Calif. When asked about how he has been able to drive the car for 5000 miles without the tags being up to date. I got the wink wink story. He really said, i don't think you really want to know..hee hee

Car 2. This person was a honest as could be and told me that he was having DMV problem and could not sell me the car and was looking for someone out of state to buy it..That is the kind of person i'am looking for.Straight up and honest..Thank you Bill..

Car 3. This was a local car..The person talk like they were not sure about any reg. problems..mmmm..could you send me a copy of the reg. please? Now, they were good about this.once i had the copy, what did i find? Vin number started with the letter K and had only 11 number and the car was not up to 03..pass again..

Car 4. Out of state. Now this car really got me going. Had everything that i was looking for. Not over powered for me, clean, ect..talked to the owner, got as much information as i could. Contacted intercitylines about cost to ship the car and was ready to make a deal. Was told that the car would have no problem with reg in state in the union..The killer..Vin number started with a K and had only 11 numbers..Should i call him back? Is this workable?

All right everyone..Am i missing something here? Am i doing and asking the right question..If any of you were buying a out of state car, what would ask about the title?, to make you want to do the deal. Were all the first year SPF title by TU? This is really starting to bum me out..Sorry for the *****ing, but am i seeing land mines that are not there?I guess i'am not being as patience as i should be...

Will keep you posted..

Rick

Frankly,,,,,I gave up on the whole mess. You think it's hard to register in Calif. try Hawaii!! IT's a freakin nightmare here.

Solution? I just bought back my Excalibur from the guy I sold it to a few months ago (yeah, I had to kick in a few extra thou to get him to do a deal).

Near as I can figure the Excalibur is the ONLY totally, without question piece of cake in ANY state DOT and FED approved "Cobra". Because it is a "real" car built by a "real" manufacturer and meeting the Fed requirements at the time of build. Insurance? No problem there either! Is it my first choice of Cobras? No, but I like it!

Selling my DV built Classic Roadster because I could not find a way to register it here legally. There ARE ways to do it in most of the other States, but it takes some work. Right now in Hawaii, you CANNOT legally register a new Cobra, PERIOD, on the Island of Oahu. This does not bode well for the future.............

Default The VIN makes no difference.

My SPF was titled out of state as a 65 Ford. The VIN was 11 digits and started with "K". I am finishing up my California registration under SB100 and my Ca VIN is the same VIN it had out of state. I would not fret over it, buy the car you want and begin the process. It is very easy and painless.
