It's effectively monday (first day in the office this week) and I'm moving slow. I need to bring my car to the BAR (yes I'll fail SMOG) for registration, but for the life of me I cannot figure out who to call or where to go.
Can someone point me in the right direction? Also any advise on where to go would be appreciated. I'm in Gilroy, anything in a 20 or 30 mile radius is fine with me (will do more if it buys me something)

You have to call the Consumer Assistance & Referee Scheduling Center at (800) 622-7733 to get an appointment. Just tell them where you live and they can find one close by. Do you have a vin#? When I did mine, I had to have a vin# before I was able to see the smog referee.

Sort of an aside here but I have a '78 Truck with a 428 SCJ in it. I'm currently registered in WA state but want to get it done in Bay Area. It came with a 400M originally and I think the 460 was an option. Does anyone have any recommendations? Scott
The BAR station at Evergreen Valley CC is excellent. It took me three tries, at different times, but I finally passed. BAR had different rules than DMV and the BAR guy was very fair and worked them out. He called LA and Sacramento to determine exactly what I needed to pass. A very good guy and I was able do everything he needed to pass.
I made an appointment at Evergreen College. The phone number I finally found on the DMV website under the SPCNS rules page. Seems like it should be on the BAR website, but whatever. In any case thanks for the help.
