CH1 Friday, 9/26, one day drive arrangements

I thought I'd start this thread to see who is going down to meet up with the CH1 folks and go for lunch in the Cantina. I believe Doug said there is room for me at a table, but I forgot:o.

scootter 09-16-2008 07:00 PM

Dave,

Danette and I are in. I'm taking this Friday off for STTL, and next Friday for lunch with the CH1 group.

Scott

Dave,

Welcome back from the golf adventure in Ireland! Hope the Scotch was great and the golf was acceptable!

I made a reservation for six at 1:15 pm. Right now, it's you, Scott, Danette, Chuck, me and maybe Kathleen. We can coordinate the details next week.

Greg tripp 09-16-2008 08:24 PM

Are you guys going overnight or just to lunch somewhere? Is there any extra room?

4pipes 09-16-2008 08:25 PM

Great, thanks. I guess I should meet up with Scott and then we can go over the hill and meet Doug. Where and when should we meet on Friday and what time do you think we'll be heading home? I'm just going down for the a.m. drive and lunch. I have house guests after 3pm.

4pipes 09-16-2008 08:28 PM

Doug, the Guiness and the courses were fantastic, the "3 extra club" wind and rain got a little tiring. We drove on the "wrong side of street" for about 900 miles. Loved the 120km/hr speed limit.

Got the Bug 09-16-2008 09:07 PM

Here's the official schedule:

Friday (Day Drive):
Departure: 10:00 am. from Seascape Resort
Route: SOUTHERN route on Highway 1
Stop-1: Big Sur area and shops, and turnaround
Lunch: Baja Cantina in Carmel Valley at 1pm
Stop-2: TBD, possibly Pacific Grove
Return: Head back to Seascape

I'm planning on joining the caravan for the drive down to Big Sur and then to lunch at Baja Cantina. We can either meet at Seascape or there's a Starbuck's right off of 41st. Ave if you want to meet for coffee and pit stop before Seacape.

Greg - We're just going down for the day. I made the reservation for 6, but Kathleen isn't a definite. If you can take off, you should join us and we'll squeeze in at the restaurant one way or the other.

4pipes 09-16-2008 09:09 PM

Thanks, Doug. I'm going to head home after lunch, no later than 3:00pm.

tc_sj 09-20-2008 10:30 PM

Doug

If I am able to take the day off Fri, should I let you know by Thu for the RSVP lunch spots?

If you're able to make it, you should call the Baja Cantina directly and make a lunch reservation for around 1:00 pm.

Kathleen is going to join me, so I don't have any open spots on my reservation.

Dave, Chuck, Scott and others who are planning on attending the CH1 drive to Big Sur on Friday.

I talked to Dave at breakfast on Saturday, and we thought we could meet at Gayles Bakery in Capitola at 9:00 am and head over to Seascape around 9:30 am to meet up with the rest of the group.

Gayles is easy to get to. Take Hwy 1 South and get off at Bay/Capitola. Turn Right on Bay and follow it down until you get to a 4 way stop sign. Gayles is located in the shopping center on the left.

Gayle's Bakery
504 Bay Ave Capitola, California

They've got some good eats to get your day started.

Tan,

I'm in Almaden Valley.

I haven't been out in the car for a while, so I'm thinking about getting some extra wheel time by driving 9 to 35 to 17. That drive takes about 1 hour from Saratoga, so anyone who is interested would need to be at the 76 station in Saratoga by 8.00 to make the bakery by 9.00.

Chuck

decooney 09-22-2008 12:09 PM

See you there!

For any of you guys who are driving over from the Bay Area for the day on Friday, just a note that we'll be at Baja Cantina's in Carmel Valley for Lunch around 2pm or so, and the we'll be at the Tiki Bar for Tiki Night behind the Seascapre resort in Aptos at 5:30-6pm or so. Feel free to join us there too if you like. Bring your Hawaiian shirts for Tiki Night!

Be sure to say hello, and I'll give you a CH1 window sticker for your cars if you show up. Thanks for making the effort to come over and join us. DC
