 Gene,
It's funny you say that as a couple months ago I took a coat hanger under the passenger seat and found things that just "went missing". Need to block it off somehow so things wont just slide under.

I would be happy to help you listen.

 Doug,
 Great drive and fun breakfast!

Sorry to hear about the noise, a compression check will tell you a lot ... maybe a valve lifter or cam lobe is the problem? Just guessing at this point. Since you have the valve cover off, maybe crank the motor a bit an see if it looks like the valves are opening and closing properly.

 Doug,
Warranties are beautiful things. Fingers crossed for a quick, no-hassle repair.

gene. if you were to take some insulation foam. you know, like the stuff water pipes are wrapped with. that black foam like stuff. cut a piece and stuff it under the front of the seat. that way you can't see it and it stops stuff from slideing under

 | I had a chance to check the compression today and it looks good (190 to 195 for all cylinders). I checked the basics and found no oil in the water or water in the oil . I also drained the oil and it looked fine. I replaced the oil/filter and started it up again this afternoon. The engine started right up, no shaking, smoke, or anything unusal...except for the knocking sound.

Since it's under warranty, I'm not going to turn any bolts. I've got a call into the Roush dealer in Reno and I'll go from there.

 Doug,
Glad to hear the compression readings looked fine. I know you don't want to do any wrenching because of the warranty, but you could easily remove the spark plug wires (one at a time) and while the engine is running check to see if the noise goes away. This process could help identify which cylinder is causing any noise you hear if the issue is piston/rod related.

CSX WNAB,

Thanks for the great advice. I'm going to give that a try.

Greg,

I was using the Cobra seat "coat hanger tool" as well. What a pain!

 Hi all,
My name is Alvin. I am trying to find a Cobra owner that I met at ZCarGarage tonight for the unveiling of the Nissan 370z...

I am the owner of the black Datsun 2000 roadster with the "No MG" sticker on it that was being dyno'd.

Just wanted to know if I'm in the right club that does runs to Alice's and allows a small following of non-Cobra cars like Alfas, Healeys, etc.
my e-mail is alvingogi@hotmail.com
