Default 351W Motor Mount Part Number ?

Hey Anybody......

Does anyone have a motor mount part number for using the latest low mount (stud style) frame mounts for a 351W in a Classic Roadsters? I am removing a 350 Chev and replacing it with a 351W. I bought the frame mounts from Classic Roadsters about 2 weeks before they closed, but I was never given a part number for the motor mounts. I would prefer a poly mount by prothane or energy suspensions. Thanks a bunch...Mike

You can pick up the Energy Suspensions at Autozone and probably other auto parts places for about the same price as anywhere. They are the same units as the 302/5.0 mounts.

Thanks...I've tried the 84-95 Mustang with 302 (6-501 prothane or 4.1122 Energy Suspensions) and they don't fit correctly on the mounts. Still hoping someone has a part number.

Mike.
So you know cpteddie is, as of today out of the country for a short while. Most likely why he hasn't had a chance to get the numbers for you yet.

OK I'm almost out of the country.... packing now.

Here's what I ordered for motor mounts, but it looks like you tried these already.

DV, these are the ones we used, right?

Hey DV!!!! Just going back a few thousands posts in our build thread to check the whole motor mount issues we had and I came across this....

Good news, and Crap news! You have two right frame mounts. The new motor mounts work fine but they will not fit in anyway shape or grotesque form on the left side. I am going to have to remake the left mount which of course will not be powder coated.

Thats you talking by the way

Could this be the problem Mike is running into? Go back to page 19 in our thread and thats were we started trouble shooting out problem.

Cpt....
No that is not mikes problem, and those do look the like the correct mounts. Your problem wasn't the motor mounts but the actual frame mounts- the one built at an angle with the little V welded in. Bon Voyage'

DV, This is EXACTLY the problem I've run into!! When the 4.1122 mounts are set onto the CR frame mounts more than half of one the mount is not supported well. I knew that this couldn't be right. Just to make sure I modify the correct side--Did you modify the left or right frame mount?? ---Does the longer portion of the right frame mount go the the rear of the car for proper engine placement. Convinced that the motor mounts were wrong, I already returned them to Jegs, but I am going to Casper today and will see if an Autozone store has them. DV, could you still e-mail me just two photos - the left and right side of Ed's mounts in the car. It would add to my piece of mind that I am placing the engine in the correct location on the frame. Oh well, these little "glitches" in life help add to our "distinguished" gray hair appearance .....Thanks a bunch!!! Mike

wycobra,
Bolt your engine and trans in the frame using your best guess on the mounts. Then bolt on at least one headder and sidepipe. If the bracket on the rear of the sidepipe aligns with the mounting hole in the frame then your going in the correct direction. The bracket that does not fit up correctly on the mount would be the one to modify. I was lucky and got the correct ones from CR. Once I knew they would work I welded in gussets on both sides of the angled piece for strength. Does not leave much room for a wrench, just enough. The way they were designed, I was concerned about them flexing.

DV:

For the CR I , prior to Don S, with a 351W, from the Assembly Manual :

Left Side: Ford P/N D7ZZ-6038-A

Right Side: " " D7ZZ-6038-B

Same for a CR II ?

Thanks for the help guys. With Classic AWOL this has helped me a bunch. Looks like it is try and then modify to fit if needed. I am used to that. Headers should be here next week and I'll see how everything fits together. Excited to get the 350 replaced with the 427 stroker. It dynoed at 520 lbft @ 3800rpm and 435HP at 5200rpm. Even with our power robbing high altitude in Wyoming it should scoot the car along pretty well. Now that the construction in Yellowstone NP at the east entrance is finally done, driving the Cobra up Sylvan Pass is a blast! Take care, Mike

Tcrist is right again!
Cpteddie, Terry has the right motor mounts listed. Those are the ones we used. I think the mounts you listed go all the way back to the mid 60's?
