Classic roadster

This may sound silly, but is classic roadster still in business. I read some of this thread and have a little back ground. I am looking at purchasing one from a friend, I was just wondering about future support. Everything I have read seems very positive. I'll thank everyone in advance for reply. Dennis.

Sorry t0 say, No. They are no longer, there is an attempt by some people to revive the Company, but right now it is falling to the way side. Most parts can be purchased " Aftermarket but the body parts.

If I remember correctly, Bill @ Emerson said that he has a CR body mold that he was willing to let go of.

You bet. There is enough aftermarket parts to fix about anything you would need. The body is another story though. But a good body shop that deals with fiberglass a lot could fix it good enough if you had any issues.

ABSOLUTELY!
Personally after having built numerous Cobras of almost every kind, I rate the SPF and CR on an absolute even scale. ERA, & EM, not better but closer to the original Cobras, then of course we have the KMP's!

No regrets here. Plenty of help and support and like was mentioned parts are availible to fix just about anything. Aside from the basic chassis and body it seems every car has been modified or upgraded to the owners taste and so most are not the same when parked side by side anyway.

Ditto John. Two years later and still love mine. I don't think a person should pay a premium for a CRII but they still are great cars.

Thanks for all of the encouragement. I am not a body and fender guy, mechanical ok. I looked at it today. Nice build, supposed to have been professionally built. 302, 5spd, 85 mustang running gear. couple of chips on paint, some wear to the drivers seat. undercarriage clean, no rust. no fluids on ground. model C427 with a 1/17/92 date. 6300 miles on odometer, CA reg 2005. 2nd owner. What value range? Are all Cobra clutch and brake pedals close together? Thank you, Dennis.

DV, that's high praise for the CR. I think SPF is a very good car.

Dennis, First and formost with these cars is build quality. If you are a competent mechanic go throught the car as carefully as time/current owner will allow. The 302 with 5speed is the same layout as my CRII. Make sure that this is all you want. Some people will settle for no less than 427 FE and toploader. I wanted the car to cruise in and a few shows. This car was strictly for my interests and not to impress someone else. For me its all about the fun driving it and they are fun. Good luck.

Yes SPF is a very good car. Comparing apples to apples frame and Body are almost the same build. The difference is SPF usually builds their car with full upgrades. If, and most do A CR's owner builds the same car using same the options on an SPF I see no difference except about $15,000 MARK UP.

If you want to look at another CR to see the differances in builds you can come down and take a look at mine. I am about 1 hour south of you.

You can also pm HRAY here on CC and I am sure he will have no problen letting you take a look at his, HRAY is in south Sac, east of Elk Grove. You can check out his build thread here on CC.

Ours ar both CR LTD C427's like yours.

There are a couple of later CR II builds around here within 100 or so miles . They might be talked into letting you look at theirs also.

My guess $250,000.00. Half of that to purchase the jigs, etc. $3,000 to $5,000.00 to get the molds from the Original CR's, (Don never owned these.) Purchasing a proper building site, re-pay those that weren't, some good and honest PR. AND an open and totally honest group of guys to get C.R.'s back on track the right way. It is a shame that one of the best kits on the market was taken down by unscrupulous dealers and more!

Do ALL work in-house, maintain top quality and stringent control of "all"!
Invest as much for advertising as you spend on improving the Kit. Two company's come to mind Street Beast, aka Innovative street machines, aka FiberFab, aka-aka, etc. Factory Five- Dave Smith is a pro at advertising and selling his product. At least he has continually updated his kit. AND it obviously WORKS!

Wouldn't it be refreshing to deal with a totally upfront company with the product to back it up!? OK, realistically Double the start up funds I could and would show investors where every dime went and why! But alas, those days and funds have passed me by.
Instead I just do what I can.......

Hmmm.. I was purely expecting you to say a million.. Well someday may be sooner than you think. I myself am about to cash out a ton of my corporate stock and I need to find something interesting to do in my retirement years as they approach. Although moving out there is not my first choice.. lol. I guess it would be possible to relocate everything to California though. I guess we will have to see how the rest of the year plays out.. :>)

Any idea on what their timeline is on that. Unfortunately I am bound to not sell the stocks until August 18th of this year. If I wanted to do something like this I guess I could always start from scratch. The kind of money I am talking here could easily make that possible.
