Default Door Alignment

I'm trying to line up my passenger side door to the car and I can't get the sides of the door flush with the car. I've gone and cut the plate out of the cowl bar to be welded in later. But when I hold the door in place it won't line up correctly. So my question is, where is it best to leave the door sticking out a little? I can get the lines to meet up except for the bottom back part of the door, down my the side pipe. Or top front. Any suggestions?

Also, DV we spoke a few days ago. do you need me to send my roll bar back to you?

Thanks,
JCMRANT

I would say line it up as best you can where its most visible. Could you possibly have the body tweaked a little...or is it mounted permantly. You might try a little shiming on the body to tweak it a little and make everything line up correctly.

just a thought.

JCM,
If you want your [your to be] right roll bar to match your left one, yes.
Lining up the rear bottom corner of the door to the body.
Normally that is the weak spot on the door moulds. If our cars, CR's didn't have a solid pan you might be able to pull the body out a little so it would fit better, but, most likely that isn't going to happen.
Line the door up using the front edge, the top back and front, get it as close as you want it, (DON'T forget to lift up the rear section at the middle of the trunk area under the car to match up the back of the door to the body!) then weld your plate in.

Now, just build up the edge a little on the wheel well/fender with body filler to match your door.

That's it.
