Default Front springs for 460

I am building a CR with a 460. Motor has original type cast iron heads, so all the 650 pounds or so is there.

What type of MII front springs should I try? Will springs from a V8 MII be too stiff?

Coil-overs and aluminum heads have to wait for "Phase X".

I got mine from Heidts. They came in the complete MII package that I bought, but I'm sure you could get just the springs if your using donor parts. They will ask you what engine you are using and size the springs accordingly. I'm sure Don and DV will know of several other places where you can get them. Wade

Actually, I believe your engine weighs 720 pounds. See thread on engine weights.

I always use the Carrera coilover setup with the big blocks. I use a 500lb spring. With the small blocks I use the 375lb spring. This is different than using the stock springs. With a small block I use a 250lb stock coil, so I'm not sure what rating a big block would require. I know the first car I built with the sideoiler I used a V8 Mustang II spring and it was to stiff and rode high. I wound up putting a V6 spring in it and it worked ok. Maybe DV will know which stock spring to use.

Can't add anything to Don's post- we do exactly the same.
Not familiar with the MK II??

DV
By the way, I think CobraEd is correct, the SVO 460 w/ Aluminum heads, out of the crate, read, no pulleys, starter, alternator, carb, flywheel etc, weighs 611 lbs.

Default springs

Thanks DV. If the crate weighs 611, that would put mine at just over 700, as CobraEd said.

I was just using MII because I'm too lazy to type Mustang II.

I have the MII V8 springs now, but I might also decide get a set of V6 springs as a backup in case the others are too much.
