Default Carpet..Rocker panel/door surround..Install

I am still gathering parts to complete my early 90's Kit. I have a question about the install of the factory carpet section that surrounds the door openingand runs the lenght of the rocker panels. It is a rather small section and appears that the only way to attach it is with adhesive. Has anyone ever bond it to piece of thin lexan with the same shape and then attached it with screws. All suggestions are welcomed... Thanks

All of my carpet is installed with adhesive. I guess if you cut the lexan close enough then you could bond your carpet to that then screw the whole setup to the body, but why. You might as well just bond/clue the carpet to the body and save yourself some time. Unless you plan on removing your carpet a lot.

That section of carpet in my Everett-Morrison came bonded to a piece of luan plywood. I bonded a couple of pieces of wood to the inside of the body with Duraglass so I had something to screw the carpet panel to. It worked out well. The wiring harness for the back of the car is hidden behind the panel.
