CRII Factory break line size question.

Haven’t posted in a long time but still read almost every day.
I have a problem with the front drivers side breaks dragging / almost locking. Took it to the shop for an alignment and break job. The shop told me the reason for the lock up was a bad break hose but he could not find a new hose to replace it. I told him the year of the build (94) and he tried a half a dozen or so different sizes none fit. Thank fully he didn’t charge me for his time on the breaks but now I'm stuck with the problem of finding the right size hose.
I called the last owner and he said he never changed the stock hardware just pads.
Anny help will be greatly appreciated.

I take it you're referring to the 'flex' line? It could be any of a number of different hoses! Your mechanic should take it off, take it to NAPA and they can match it up by sight! 94' would be a tough year as a lot of changes were made that year.

That’s kind of what he tried to do. I think I would like to go with some sort of a heat resistance stile hose. If they make that is. Is there preferred brand you would go with. I will be doing both sides for sure and probably the rotor on the driver side because it did get HOT and smokein when I drove it home. It gets worse the more the car heats up.

DV knows a lot about your model car.
but by the info you originally posted, brakes dragging would not lead me to a bad brake hose.
and if it was what you truly do need and the mechanic couldn't match one.
i would say to take the car else where. he's not the right guy for the job.

surely you can identify the type of caliper on the car, so that really narrows the hoses down, then match the end that attaches to the line side or adapt it....

find another shop....

ok, while he's (hopefully) gone shopping for a new mechanic, shall we play the, "What's your best guess to the problem? Or.... a more probable solution?"

My guess is the piston in the caliber(s) are frozen in place.
Your guess ??

How about a sticking/stuck piston in the M/C? Now that would be interesting especially with only one wheel or set of wheels locking up?

In a post on our site he said the hose showed signs of being hot and the mechanic said it was crumbling inside. How he could tell unless he took it loose and looked at it I am not sure. The heat on the hose could maybe have came from the heat generated by the dragging brake. I think I would take a close look at the calipers and replace them if they look bad.

From what everyone is saying.. Looks like I will be redoing the two front calipers and the hoses. I have already started looking for a new shop but where I live almost no one will touch the car. They all talk about liability and costume cars and they do not want anyone of their staff to drive the car or get some kind of bill for scratching it.
I have talked to all the old hot rooders I have coffee with and got some leads but most of those shops are booked up and really pricey. Got to love toys....

You gotta love California! Ask them if they have any less liability on any of the other cars he / they work on!

Tell you what, can you post a clear or multiple picture(s) of your calibers? And the widest measurement of a front rotor. 9", 10", or 11"?

Sure can do. I will have to get out of the office and take it apart.
But I did find a shop.. Have a appointment Monday.
