WS,
my fault. You misunderstood me. I have never used the newer cable. I used thin wall pipe of some sort about 6 1/4"s long. The diameter should be such that the plastic grommet on the cable fits into it tight.
Then a just take a flat piece of steel, drill a hole big enough for the cable to pass through with the "eye" and weld it to the bottom of your tube. Then a 3/8's " hole on each end of the plate and bolt it up to your Cobra, making sure....... it pulls the line/cable straight when the pedal is pushed in- perfectly straight.
Never got the Ford auto adjustment piece to work on a CR"s. FFR guys use it all the time.
