I think the guy who bought it for 5.25M overpaid. Probably the biggest selling point of the car is the Shelby owned it.

If I won some huge lottery jackpot tomorrow and had way too much money on my hands, the Super Snake would not be on my shopping list. Maybe an FIA, a Daytona Coupe, a 427 SC or 427 Competition, but not the Super Snake.

Do you remember when the Daytona Coupe CSX2601 was the main star on live TV? There were qualified buyers in the audience and price was expected to be close to $10 million. And then NOBODY bid on it. And it went on live TV for several minutes with NOBODY bidding on it. Apparently the smart money waited until after the auction and avoiding getting caught up in the TV auction nonsense.

Why buy that one? I will sell you mine for half that amount. No auction necessary.

That is crazy money if it sells for close to that amount. Imagine though the attention you would get at all the cruises and car shows you attend. None more iconic than that particular car.
