Hello
I found a VIN decoder from Classic Roadsters,
maybe someone can have interest :

Digit #1 = 4

Digit #2 = C

Digit #3 = R

Digit #4 = engine types
A = VW
B = Ford 4 cyl
C = Ford 6 Cyl
D = Ford 8 Cyl
E = Chevrolet 4 cyl
F = Chevrolet 6 cyl
G = Chevrolet 8 cyl
H = Others

Digit #5 = transmission types
A = Manual
B = Automatic

Digit #6 Model
A = Duchess
B = Duke I (leaf spring)
C = Duke II (coil spring)
D = Marlene I 500K (leaf spring)
E = Marlene II 500K (coil spring)
F = Marlene I 504K (leaf spring 4 pass.)
G = Marlene II 504K (coil spring 4 pass.)
H = Saxon
L = Sebring
J = MX
K = Cobra

Digit #7 = type
1 = KIT
2 = Custom Glider
3 = Factory complete / Rolling chassis

Digit #8
1 = (factory complete car)
2 = (kit)

Digit #9 = check digit

Digit #10 = year (A=1980...)

Digit #11 = Assembly plant location F=Fargo

Digit #12-17 = sequence number of car

where do you find this VIN ? I bought the frame kit from a local person who bought it in Fargo I bought all parts for completing the kit from Sauk Centre, so is the vin on the frame ?

In my car, built 1992, VIN is sticker style inside driver door and aldo near front glass. But not all car have stickers with VIN.

Mine was also built in 1992, one of the last 3 to be rolling chassis. There was never anything (stamped) on any CR, only as merlino69 states VIN sticker's, And mine never even came with those, since I live in Washington state, the worse thing they did is hold my title for 3years, making sure no stolen parts were used. Mine was imported from USA to France in year 2000, I wasn't able to find old USA plate to verify production year, I made reasearch from VIN didn't get any result, maybe I should call every state office ? is there any company that could help me to make search ?

My VIN placard is mounted just below the hood latch and from all the research I have been able to gather it was built by Excalibur Motor Company in 1993. I think I am the 3rd owner of the car but trying to get information always hits a dead end.
