Default (new) Seats

Anybody got an idea of a replacement seat for the CR Cobra? I'm looking for a seat with an adjustable back so my wife can (occasionally) drive my Cobra.

What would be perfect is a seat with the same width, a lower seating area, and an adjustable back.

If you find one, let me know. Europaspares.com in U.K. has a variety of aftermarket seats designed for smaller British cars.

Have same issue. Wife wants to drive car. Installed the CR seats so they adjust back & forth, but the backs are not adjustable. Fabricating removable 2x4 wood chock so she can fully depress clutch.

Pete,Gotta say I have had the chance to drive quite a few different manufactures cars lately While I don't feel every aspect of Classic Roadster is the best design the seats are really comfortable. I drove my car from Florida to New York whan I bought it and other than wearing them out with my big butt I wouldn't be looking for another set. I have actually worn some holes in the stiching.
If you are going to sell yours I am interested. The interior repair guys here in New York want my first born child to recover them in leather.

Well it looks like I'll be keeping the seats. Turns out the wife didn't have the seat all the way forward on the seat tracks. She fits fine now.

Went out for a drive today. Spent an hour just enjoying the Cobra (with 60 degree weather in winter)!

Food for thought. Re: Leather seats in Cobras.

Leather is nice in coupe type cars with heat in the winter, AC in the summer, and never a chance of getting it wet unless you leave the windows open in a thunderstorm. Wet leather is worse than rock chips in paint.

Personally hate vinyl. Butt freezes against it in winter, slides around on it in spring and fall, sticks to it with sweat in summer, burns on first contact if exposed to direct sunlight. Takes forever to dry if it gets wet.

Re-did seats in cloth, with vinyl for trim. Doesn't freeze in winter, don't slide around on it at all, doesn't stick with sweat, and doesn't burn unless you insist on black where your butt hits the seat. Since it's porous, it dries in a few hours if it gets wet. Can be Scotchguarded for stainproofing.

And it's not wildly expensive.

Have cloth seats done in (almost) matching body color, with black vinyl trim. Looks good, feels good. Adds a touch of class.

Wife driving Cobra. The worst that could happen would be to be a two Cobra (his & hers) family. But at least your wife now appreciates and shares your enjoyment of your unique automobile.

Jack,

...and the best thing out of it (wife driving the Cobra) is that I might get a GT40 out of it!

Petek,

Careful. The testosterone-estrogen equation works both ways. You could get a GT-40, and you could be having a larger family. Ha. Ha.

These women are hip. They find out what gets your testosterone up and make sure you get plenty of it. "Let's take a ride in the Cobra tonight, Honey." And what she's really thinking is, "And let's take a ride on ME afterward".
