Default Lifter X_Change

Can the hydraulic roller lifters be replaced without removing the intake manifold on a 1987 302??

I don't know of any way to do it. You would need to bring the lifter up through the pushrod hole and I don't think they are big enough. Why do you want to replace them?

The valvetrain gets noisy when the engine warms up. I have recently added roller rockers and that seemed to reduce the noise level but it is still there and it irritates the crap outta me.

We sometimes get what sounds like a noisey valvetrain on some engines. If we use aluminum heads, manifold and tall aluminum valve covers. The normal valvetrain noise seems to amplify through all the aluminum and the tall valve covers act like an echo chamber. We have found some roller rockers are noiseier than others. The blue proforms are very loud compared to a comp or crane. If the noise isn't a typical lifter ticking sound I would look elsewhere or the noise could be normal as we found.
