Meant no offence. You're right about the colour (sp. color - for you) difference. The wood is american black walnut and the colour diference is between the heart wood and the sap wood. But that is the beauty of wood. If I wanted it to be uniform in colour, I would have gone with plastic.
In the previous pics, I tried so hard to avoid any glare (shiney spots). I have attached a couple of pics with glare so the wood doesn't look so "weather beaten".
