Default Adding steel support brace for lower dash..

To all the experts out there ...is there any reason that adding another piece of 3/4" square tubing to the dash hoop would interfere with anything? I am thinking of adding a piece to stabilize the bottom of the dash , and hang my halon system from it . It seems to me like it would work watcha think? WD

Wetdog,
Adding to the top of the dash will basically do nothing but cause a huge interference problm, not only with the mounting of the dash but will force all the gauges, hardware wiring, etc, downward. With two 90' mounts mounted at the bottom (custom dash), and the top of the dash installed correctly it should be more than stong enough to install a swich for the halon system.( you are running lines from your installed system to the drivers foot box and the engine compartment-no?)
Just my 2-cents again.

I am thinking of the bottom inside lip of the dash , one piece of 3/4 square with a 3/16 lip to attach to it would be rock solid . Halon to footbox , engine, and fuel cell. WD

Radio? Toggle switches, Heater? If your not putting anything in the lower section shouldn't be a problem. Sorry, I hate it when people don't read a thread correctly! Mia guilty, I thought at first you were putting it along the top! OOops .

Your system going to be a hand held type halon- small fire extinghuisher type?

I recommend some sort of shock absorber. My lower part of the dash used to vibrate enough that it broke the circuit board inside my radio. Not that I ever used the radio, but it did break.

I put in a flexible but strong steel bracket between the lower dash and the frame.

Just my $0.02
