Default How old is my car?

I have had my CR for several years and have done a fair amount of work on it during that time. This garage mistress has made me interested in finding out more info about it.

As the second owner of a "old" CR. How do I find out more information on it. What number was it off the production line?
What year?
Etc.

Just looking for info and hope one of the people here can help me find it.

Thanks

Macobra

Not real sure you will be able to find that out. but here are some suggestions.

do you have any of the pick sheets that were delivered with the car. If so that might help. I have two CR's that were built and delivered in 91. I do have the pick sheets and deliver info from the CR back then. I could possibly let you know what those numbers are.

another possibility is to contact your state DMV office. See if they have the ability to do a file search on the car. Many states for a fee will research the micro-fich and make copies of documents related to the car. That may not work because someone may have taken delivery of the car and waited for years to register it therefore no real history on the date the car was delivered to the first owner.

I really doubt that CRII will have any info to help you with. I tried that a couple years ago because I did not get certificates of orgin with the cars only the pick sheets and some invoices.

Not lots of help here but just maybe some.

I purchased my CR in late 98. The C of O lists the vin # as 4KCDAK126WF 000200 with the CR supplied VIN tag reading the same number. If you have the Certificate or Origin or the CR supplied VIN tag you might be able to determine approximate date by comparing VIN #'s with around October of 98.

Good Luck.

I am the 3rd owner of mine. It came with a CR vin tag attached to the car that read 1997 with a vin# 4KCHAK129VF000157. I have a new vin# now that it is titled in CA. I also tried to get CRII to give me some info on the car but I was told when CRII took over the records became quite unorganized with the move and they could not locate any pertaining to my car. That may have changed because that was a few years ago but you can't get them to answer the phone now. Hope that helps, good luck.

Don told me one time that all the numbers meant was a way of tracking the parts during the build. It was like a job or order number. Mine is an early 90's and the last three digits are 422.

Thanks for the ideas. The vin's last 4 are "FA22". It was first titled in CA in 01 and I bought it in 03 and titled in MA that same year.

Since the demise if CR1, I see its going to be a up hill battle to find out its history.

Thanks again
