Every guy with a garage has got to have one!
This is the greatest tool I have bought in years! Made by "Kitty Mac" and comes in any size you want. Send them a photograph and they will make a 5'x7' center section that you can add or leave off at will! Man we used it last night in the back woods of Mi. and watched the mosquitos line up in formation trying to get in! We worked for hours last night and not one bug got through! During the day time it keeps out all the leaves and flying junk! Man this thing is great! When not in use it just rolls up out of the way. Now how's that for a sales pitch, my door is 16x16 and if they can make this size they CAN make any size! Every garage owner should have one!

That's the one! I even spent extra time wiping down all the siding with acetone to attach the velcro and I didn't have 45 minutes in it including doing the top header. Believe me on a 16' door on a shaky ladder, or maybe it was just me, that's all the longer it took me! I checked a lot of different screens but their cost were out of this world and I THINK "Kitty Mac" started this whole craze. If you should call, ask for the owner and tell him the Streetrod/Cobra guy, Ed Combs sent you. I'm trying to get some discount for all the members here if they ever want one . I paid less than $300 for the whole thing including the exta cost for the screened picture. Next picture I order (you can change these at will!) of course will be a Cobra, but he had this one in stock and since I build CP's too, why not? Maybe a U of M logo- Go Blue! DV |
I have one on the back door. I can leave the back door open and the dog can go in and out.

"As seen on TV", is that like a vegamatic? Fella, $17.00's sounds great but when I did searches on dozens of them most were close to or over $500.00 to $1,200.00 per "standard" door. Would have liked to find one of those made out of the same material for $17.00!

Guys don't get bit by my price! Compare apples to apples, my height is easily twice a normal garage door and twice as wide! Plus the price of the custom -removable- photo of your choice. Couple of the links here are from the same company and others are more than what this one cost-All but the $17.00 one and I would have liked to have seen that one. I have no doubts about the mark-ups! But, it does work and work well!.
Door is wide open, all 16' feet high, 10:00 PM, Halide lights are on, the temperature is in the mid 80's, humidity is off the charts and NO mosquitos! I am a late night builder once again. I'd rather give my blood to the Red Cross :) . If you've been thinking about one, find your cheapest price and do it, you'll love it! DV |

you want to drive up by all means do so. You can't see us from the main rd, we're down a small private dirt road. Be glad to give you directions any time! After much head scratching I just couldn't see the huge discrepency on the cost of the TV screen door! Now I know, the TV screen door uses lighter screening material than what is in a normal window screen. The other quality screens use a material that is almost like rubber and very tear proof, ala, dogs, kids, party animals and the likes. I priced out the velcro for my door a total of over 48' and it came to (male/ female) just over $70.00's! I have no idea what the TV door uses to attach their doors. I also found out that Lowes and Home depot also sell the "Kitty Mac" door system like I have for what ever that means. Just curious over the price difference beacuase it was a huge difference. All things said, (hopefully) you get what you pay for. Still no Mosquitos! :3DSMILE: DV |
Just checked both Lowes and Depot sites and can't find it. If anyone has a link please post it. I plan to by something in the next week and all the variances are confusing.

http://www.freshairscreens.com/gallery/party.jpg Opinions and types will/can drive you nuts, some use buttons to hold them in place, some of the top dollar ones are electric (Manual works just fine for me), takes a whole 1/2 minute to roll it up and I do love the way you can operate your real door with the screen up or down! I just leave my door screen down all night and close the overhead door. 5:00AM, I open the door and the screen is still in place already! If I just want to roll a car or boat in or out I just roll the screen half way up. DV |

I say to heck with bugscreens! Put in AC and close the door altogether! A good sized window unit cools a 2 or 3 car garage pretty well...even makes Texas heat bearable! I saw one of these on sale at Home Depot for $399:

Do they all roll up in front of door area (mounted on outside jam) I think if possible it would be way better tucked away inside of garage jam avoiding door track. |

The whole point is, on the OPUTSIDE of the track or outer door jamps it is "Completely out of the way. This way you can operate the screen, or the door totally independant of each other, Personally without rebuilding the entire inside track and "boxing" the track in on two sides I can't even imagine having it on the inside. I am thinking of starting a petition to have it changed to...mesquito. :LOL: :LOL: Okay, so it is like 80% humidity and you are going out to the garage to work on the car. You turn on the AC and start to dry out. Is there condensation on your tools as the temperature drops? Or is it when you open the garage door to take the car out to check out the work you did and all the steel tools are at 70 degrees and the outside air is at 90. I'm not sure AC is good for a garage where you will be openning and closing the door off and on. The tools and steel car parts gather condensation from the sudden temp changes. :D :D Sorry Ed, didn't mean to highjack your thread. :D |
