CRII dash

I read DV's build, I don't understand cutting the wings part of the dash. Do you mean the ends ? Should they be even with the ends of the hoop? Right now, I have the body off. Any suggestions?

I am alo running a 351W, I can use the stock oil filter location on the block, any advantage of going to a remote filter, or dual filter setup other than ease of changing. I have the adapter and housing for a remote dual setup, but don't see any advatage to it.
