Default Another new guy

New guy here, bought a 10 year old Street Beast kit that is a rolling chassis at this point. Yes, I know about the issues with Street Beast.

No engine or tranny and has the following put together at this point:

* Front coil over done with 11 inch discs
* 8.8 rear installed with 4 lug drums

Currently wrapping up another project (66 Bronco) so will not start working on it till the fall.

The plan

302 or 351 - might get a F4TE roller 351 and keep bottom end and update with Alum heads, new cam, etc. Hoping for 300 - 350 HP.

Upgrade rear end to 5 lug and disc brakes - not sure where to get the parts

T5 tranny

Thats all for now.

I just finished 2 early bronco restorations and about to start a 3rd, so I am real good at spending $$.

I am glad I will not have to replace any sheet metal on the cobra.

Welcome Tom. There are any number of rear disc brake conversions available. As far as the axles, you can find them in the salvage yard from a Ford Ranger. The Rangers two sides are different lengths. You will need two from the short side. Forged axles are available from Moser and a couple other places in the $250 range per pair. Good luck with your build.

Thanks all, I had heard that the Ranger might be a source for the axles. Would it matter if it is a 4 or 6 cylinder truck? What vendor would you recommend for the rear disc conversion?

Also, I scored a 351 yesterday with the part number of F4TE - 6015 - AA. It will need a rebuild, but it did come with all the parts. I will try and take it apart over the 4th of July weekend and then get it to the engine builder.

Welcome and good luck with your build, Tom. I also have a 66 Bronco (289, 3 speed). I think Broncos and Cobras make great stable mates! My Cobra will be here next month, but here's a picture of the Bronco:
