Default Registering Contemporary Cobra

Am considering purchase of CCX33710. It is registered in N.Y., they don't use titles on older cars. CCX33710 does not appear on the registration. I'm told a tag on the firewall reads SOS30137ILL, and that is on the registration. It is registered as a 1966 Ford. I want to be sure all is ok to register and title in TN before purchase. Thank You, Gene

With the made up VIN I suspect that it will get flagged for a new VIN

Thank you, Bill.
After the post, the owner sent me photo of tags on the firewall. The original
Contemporary tag is there with ID #CCX33710. Above that is another tag,
"Assigned Identification Plate" from Illinois with the number that's on the registration. I'll take a copy showing both to DMV tomorrow to make sure it's ok. Also thank you for the suggestion of contacting Nick (mickmate). He's a wealth of info and is being very helpful.

If the VIN on the Ill state issued tag matches what is on the Ny registration then you are golden. if not, then you have a 50/50 chance of not having to retitle from scratch in your state.

Yes, they match. I also visited TN DMV with copies of NY Registration, and photos of tags. Looks like all is OK. Nick is going to look at the car with me.
Thank You,
Gene
