Hi All

Been lurking for a while, but decided to join. Reside in South Africa.
Am looking at doing a scratch build, but just going to go through all threads and check what works and what everyone deems to be a good build process.

Want to find a good set of plans and instructions then will once I start my own build will post progress in my own build thread.
Plus a picture of my other passion

Cheers
Dylan

I'm sure you are aware of the scratch build section. You might do some digging in there.

That is a nice motorcycle. As for the build we have a member on our site that he and his father just finished the Factory Five build course and he said they learned a lot from it and have ordered their kit. There are a couple of guys in South Africa that hunt up old or unfinished Cobras and restore and finish them and they could probably help you a lot if you are close enough to each other to communicate.

I don't know about South Africa, but there are some places where it is nearly impossible to get a scratch build approved and registered. Kits from a recognized manufacturer with a supplied MSO, OTOH, seem far more acceptable to the bureaucrats who have to approve them.

YMMV

I agree. Maybe before starting on a scratch build, speak to your registration authorities and check that a completed scratch build can be registered.

I live in Adelaide, South Australia, and there would be many, many more hoops to jump through if I was trying to register a scratch build here.

Very best wishes with whatever you end up doing.

Cheers,
Glen
