Default Irish Newbie

Hello everyone.

my name is Mark, I am from the republic of Ireland.
I have been a huge Cobra fan from childhood.

I'm planning to build myself a cobra replica as part of my college (mech engineering) final year project.

I am planning to design/build my own chassis relatively faithful to the original but designed to be safe(relatively) in modern traffic.

Any plans for chassis bucks or original drawings/cad files for the cobra would be a big help to I can get the basics/major measurements.

Building a whole car in two semesters is an awfully ambitious project. Unless it's a group project I'd wager you won't finish. Consider reducing the scope. Perhaps just the frame.

5 years ! i'm studying part-time so I have quite some time to get this done.

I will be buying a shell from jk cars in the UK sorry I wasn't clear.

The frame/chassis is what I plan to build. I would like to buy a whole kit as they are about 21k GBP without engine/paint buuut the three available to me vary wildly.

One option just looks cheap , the second uses a box section chassis that covers the entire floor right out to the doors with a more traditional dash/upper body support like the original 289 chassis but very little side-impact or foot protection.

Option three has a very nice lotus style back-bone chassis but the body is structural and I would be relying on fibreglass to protect me from side impacts which i'm not to keen on.

I quite like the the FFR chassis.

My plan is to design/build something very similar to the FF chassis.
