This looks like the same car that "kjbagg" posted about in September.

The guy said that the seller was asking $40K  :JEKYLHYDE

BTW - You might want to check out that left rear brake....it looks like it might be leaking brake fluid.

65whatthe 11-10-2008 03:53 PM

So, let me get this right. You didn't identify the maker of the car or determine when it was made?

65whatthe, I've downloaded your pics to my laptop and will swing by A&C with them before the end of the week to see if they want to claim the car. I'll post their response before Saturday.

Damn, Doug, nice memory!

Damn, Doug, nice memory!

The picture of the dash, pedals, and wiring looked really familiar to me.

The whole thread went over my head. I must have missed the "between the lines" stuff.

No, but so far we have figured out it is not powered by an original 427 sideoiler as the D4TE engine casting number on the block shows it to be from a 1974 vintage truck?

Feel free to check out the following link to confirm what I am saying.

From the pictures we could find of your car (VIN: RBT05J89680105002), it could be a failed company that was in the Kansas area and built just a few kits (less than a dozen). before going out of business. Rollbar was one of their tell tale signatures, but then again the suspension mount on the rear end has been seen on very early NAF's, but again the rollbar configuration is all wrong for that manufacturer:

http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../IMG_00015.jpg

The hard mount for the master cylinder brings out more questions than answers as does the routing of the steering shaft

Again not trying to pick on the car, just narrowing down the possibilities.

Thanks MrMustang for your observations. I am interested in knowing whatever I can about the car. Not offended, I too have picked away at it. I wondered about the 3 windshield wipers. Windshield wipers? Really? Why does it have those... at all?
Thank you Vanoochka for your participation as well. I look forward to knowing more about where it came from. Or if anyone will claim it.

65whatthe 11-15-2008 06:39 PM

Still curious about where it came from and who, etc..

I'm thinking that motor should go into the 55 Thunderbird then...Is that a bad idea?

What 55 T Bird?

G.R. 11-17-2008 09:45 AM

From what I could tell your car may be a NAF (North American Fiberglass). I see a lot of similarities between yours and my old 289FIA, ie. frame and MII front suspension, forward leg brace on roll bar (most NAF's built had that type supplied w/chrome an option) street dash option, hood latch, hood and trunk hinges, door panels and the wheels look like the stock wheels supplied by NAF.

If it is a NAF there should be a serial number stamped on the passenger side rear frame rail on the top...it'll begin NAF427 followed by a series of numbers ie, 693(mo/yr built)followed by a production number. Also a build plate was mounted on the firewall on the passenger side near the rear of the front fender...rather hidden and often painted over

65whatthe 11-17-2008 11:04 AM

We are going to go look for your clues right now GR ...Thank-You! Be right back...

65whatthe 11-17-2008 03:15 PM

OK, I'm bumming. No luck finding either clue that GR came up with. But we did notice that there was a hole that was repaired at some point just 8 inches or so behind the roll bar!

65whatthe 11-17-2008 04:27 PM

Mrmustang there's a 55 T bird right next to the cobra. It's a project that I didn't get to yet.

Is the frame round tube or square?

Independent rear or straight axle and what type?

What is the wheel base? If it is other than 90" it will rule out/in a bunch.

Glass body?
