New and confused...
Hello to all! I'm new and trying to find my way. I own a cobra and want to find out all I can about it. Who built it, and when, etc... Any suggestions on where to start my research???
|
Welcome to CC. If you post some pictures, I bet someone can ID the mfgr.
|
If it has a CSX # that'll help ;)
|
Welcome to the flock.......as mentioned above, pics would help.

He learns fast. He posted pics in 3 posts.
Nice color. How long have you had it? :D :D |
I acquired the car when a business deal went bad, 2 years ago. I know nothing about it except that it goes very fast, and it makes the neighbors giddy... I love that part!
|
Where is a CSX # located? What is CSX?
|
Have you joined the Great Lakes Cobra Club, right in your back door ? In fact, they hold several meetings a year at Gino's in Keego Harbor ( as well as elsewhere in the area ) - they hold monthly meetings year round , so you can get alot of help and info ;
http://www.greatlakescobra.com/ Bill, near your locale as well |
Thanks Bill!
|
A true CSX# would indicate that it's an original :)
From the photos it appears to not be a FFR at least. Forward leg on the rollbar ..... Shell Valley ? None of the registration papers have any info on it? It'll soon be identified :) it goes very fast, and it makes the neighbors giddy... Glad you're enjoying it !! :MECOOL: |
I'm sorry to sound silly but FFR means nothing to me, and where would a CSX # appear? Thank-you Doug I for your reply.

It would help if you were able to provide some interior and door hinge/hood hinge shots...often they can reveal a characteristic that is a mark of a particular kit manufacturer. |
Sorry to confuse you 65.
There have been a few 'barn finds' that have turned out to be ... not barn finds. To acquire an original when a business deal went bad would be a 'barn find' or would make it a very good deal for you. To acquire any brand as part of a payment is not too bad. As Ron mentioned there are distinctive differences between each brand, and once you know what to look for where identifying it isn't too hard. Whatever you have looks good !!! |

Any additional pics? any from underneath? |
Well, at least he's from Michigan.
What does the title say? Is it an "assembled roadster"? I agree, a few more pics. Bill, did you join the GLCC or are you just watching what's going on? Gino's in Keego? Do they still have that folded pizza?? :D :D :D :D |
Tru....... I am a long time member of the GLCC , but with 3 toy cars and 6 club memberships my presence at each is scarce .
I live so close to Ginos' that I go there somewhat often , but alas, have not made a meeting there - nor tried their pizza , folded or not . sorry . The GLCC calendar shows the next Mtg to be held on Nov 18th at GINO's . I have not rec'd a reminder yet to confirm. Pictures of the car in question as has been mentioned would be helpful in identifying what brand it is : engine bay pics, undercarriage frame pics, dash, side body rocker area, trunk pics etc as well as what is described on the Mich state registration - as was mentioned as well. Also, look for anykind of data plate or VIN plate in the engine bay- on the bulkhead or a frame rail , or perhaps a red stickon VIN from the State of Mich that says ' Assembled Vehicle' .....ya gotta tell adn show more before the astute readers of this forum can help ya out . Bill |
I agree Bill, more pics of some of the detail would make it easier to identify.
Worse case, 65 can invite a bunch of cobra nuts over to look over the car. :D :D |
